03 Eclipse GS. Can anyone recommend me a good aftermarket headunit thats good with ipods. Theres so many out there and i was hoping if any of u guys had personal preferences to suggest. Something with bluetooth would be nice because of the new seatbelt law in California, roughly hoping to spend 150-300 dollars with install. i was looking at this one

That Pioneer isn't great, and that Alpine is already $400 before installation. Go to www.sonicelectronix.com to find cheaper prices and better selection on headunits. But I'd stick to a Pioneer premier, Blaupunkt, Eclipse,(but eclipse might be out of the $300 range as well.) But look at those brands if you want a good headunit for cheap. And remember stick to the Pioneer premier, not the regular Pioneer.

Only Alpine's top of the line is good and that's really expensive. That one you posted a picture of is $400. You can't go any cheaper with their headunits and get something very good.

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_11104_...DEH-P400UB.html

That's the kind of headunit I'm talking about when I say Pioneer Premier. Not expensive and not too fancy but it's a darn good headunit. That's the kind of things you should be looking for if you are looking to spend under $300.

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_11842_...pse+CD3200.html

Or this one that is an eclipse headunit as I recommended as well. Both are really good and they are both gonna keep you withing your price range that you posted in the beginning.

No. You just pull off a few screws from the bottom of the plastic piece around your center console now, unplug your hazard lights and pull it off, unscrew your factory headunit, unplug the old wiring harness, wire up the new one, put in the new headunit with the new mounting hardware, and put the plastic cover back in and screw it down and you're done, nothing extra required.

I have to disagree with this.. The $200 Alpine head units are good!
You don't need to buy a $400 Alpine to get a good head unit. Of course you get what you pay for...but I would take a $200 Alpine over a $400 Pioneer any day.

Check out the Alpine CDA - 9886. I have one installed in my car with a 120 gig HD. It syncs up within in 15 secs of turning on the car. And it play the last track that was in rotation. good Luck

Alpine units suck if they are cheap because they have bad preamp outs. If you are looking to hook up a good system with an aftermarket amp, alpine's low line is terrible.

The Pioneer Premier I showed him was only $139. And it has almost everything the Alpine had minus a color display.

Not bad but I'm not a fan of the motorized faces, just another wear part on the CD player. Here's the one I would go for that I also recommended to the starter of this topic.

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_11104_...DEH-P400UB.html

It's a front-load CD player which is much easier and it has all the other options the one you posted did plus it's cheaper overall.

If i were to buy the Pioneer Premier DEH-P400UB lets say right off the shelf from bestbuy or circuit city and just put it right in, Is it that easy? just take out my old unit and unplug all the wires in the back ,hookup new unit? no addtional cables?adapters?

When you buy it you have to get a new wiring harness for the new Headunit. Wire that up to the new headunit take the old one out, use the new mounting hardware for the new headunit, screw it down, put the plastic cover back on, and you're good to go. It really is that easy.
