The lights on the radio display are to dimm.
Espacialy if I turn on the head lights

Dealer "knows" the problem and will contact me as soon as a solution is avalable.

Do others have the same problem, and maybe found/got a solution?

Ive seen one Owner remove the RED cover from behind the screen, requires removing the radio, and you will have a bright white display....that doesn't match the red colour...so it doesn't fit with everything else on the dash.

I would like to find an easier solution that keeps the red colour...

There are 2 settings for how bright the dashboard and radio lights are - with headlights on and headlights off.

To change the settings, press the small round cylindrical button on the right hand side of the tacho/speedometer with the lights on and with the lights off.

Hello milobob,

To bad it is not that easy...

The knob you refer to dims both daschboard and radio.
Problem is if setting is at max (bright on dashb.) radio is to dimm.

If dashb. is set to bit lower setting radio light is almost gone

This hapens as well with as without headlights.

I found out more have this problem, but no (acceptable) solution.

Judging your remark, you dont have it? do you have an outlander 2007??

Sorry for my english, I am dutch

I have the same problem with my 08 ES. One solution I found that would help with seeing the display in bright sunlight would be a small visor above the display area to shade out the sunlight. If I take my hand and put it above the display it helps block the light and makes it a little easier to see. While the red color of the display is cool looking at night, red is not the best color for daytime.

there will be no fix.
the lights just get washed out in the sun. Its not the only car that deals with that issue.

Unfortunately the Lancer and Outlander suffer from this problem. I have no knowledge of a fix either. Unless you change the stock radio to perhaps a custom double din display like the MMCS... or somehow set the display back, I don't think an amount of light intensity from the display will fix the problem when the sunlight is directly shining onto it.
