ok so my buddy has a 1g tsi awd 3 in catback evo 3 16g and we are putting in new head gasket now... but his trans you put into drive and it kicks hard and if you punch the gas it doesnt know when to shift it will try to shift then back out then try again then pop out of gear its all random just does what ever??? i have no clue the car has 17k original miles bought from some old guy out of his back yard.

I split this off for you.

for a vehicle you picked up like that you should inspect the wiring first. If it's been sitting for a while, and with 17k original miles it definately sat, mice could have gotten in there and made a nice home chewing wires and **** like that.
