Doe's anyone else hear this wind noise with all the windows up? I have not driven another 2004 Endeavor, but my dealership tells me that my wind noise is within spec of all 2004 Endeavors. I traded in a 2000 Montero Sport that cost $9,000 less and I don't remember having this problem. I always thought that my first $30,000 vehicle would have a very quiet interior, but this one does not. My dealership has changed weatherstrip, re-adjusted the door and changed out the window channel, but yet I am still freaked out by this noise. I was basically told on the last visit that the noise I hear is normal and it is killing me to accept this. I'm going out this weekend to drive a 2005 model just to see if they improved on it.

Yeah, not when the window is rolled up, thats for sure. I know sometimes if I get the window open just right sometimes or the wind is blowing a certain direction I get this helicopter noise going on but,....like I said the stars have to be aligned for something like that.

I have a 2004 Ende LS and I have the same problem. The dealer never did any service on the vehicle, they told me that this was (is) common on this vehicle. Looks like I am not alone with this issue afterall.

Hello

You didn't say what model you have.

If you have a roofrack with adjustible crossbars you can cut down noise
by repositioning crossbars.

good luck nick

I didn't think it was that big of a deal,......I mean nothing I would be upset about, it hardly happens. I think in the last 3 months I have been driving.... its only happend about 3 times. I think the direction the wind is blowing has more to do with it!? :57:

I just came across this thread in another endeavor forum, which might explain the wind noise. i don't have an AWD, so i don't hear any noise:

HI...I took my '04 Mits back because I could hear the wind squealing in my ear, even with all the windows up. They replaced the weather strip and it still does it. I'm trying to make sure I'm not crazy...Help!

Hello...I had that same noise and at the same speeds. I took my Endeavor to the dealership I bought it from. The problem is the drive shaft.
The mechanic who has always taken good care of me rode and heard the sound and then put it up on the rack and told me exactly where it was. Glad it was still under warranty. He fixed the problem and no more noise. I will say that I talked to the manager of the service dept. who is driving an endeavor. When I first called, he told me it was probably coming from the dash and not a problem. The noise got worse and had to bring it in. So, go to the dealership and let them know it's the drive shaft on the AWD. They will have to replace the whole thing.

I don't have the problem with an 04 LS. I did take it in to program a key and they changed a drive shaft bolt if I remember. That was a recall though.

Which other forum was it. I like to know of all of them so I can see which gets the best action.

Did u try experimenting by removing the Aerial at hiway driving and replace it with a short but rigid and thin onefor 10 bucks. u can remove the factory one by unscrewing(counterclockwise) it. I notice the humming/slushy sound dissipates.

Yes and Yes.
It just pissed me off the other day in fact.
I rolled the window down and back up- this made it go away for the most part, but not quite. I had to turn up the tunes to forget about it.
Also, I too have experienced the "helicopter" thing. At first I thought I was having a Vietnam flashback, but then I realized I was only five years old when Saigon fell. I was going about 50 / 55 mph with only the driver's window down. It was pretty windy that day also. It was the only time I have had it happen, but it was ridiculously undeniable.
Later, Mikkojay

hehehe. here try this: if you roll down the driver's side window and start getting the helicopter flash backs, roll down the rear driver's side window 1/2 way. it will go away :)

Driving in the rain yesterday from Kansas City to St. Louis, slight mist to drizzle, NO DOWNPOUR, and damned if I didnt start getting a trickle of water inside the driver side post, just about eye level. Could this be related to the wind noise issue. Myself, I have lots of wind noise from the sun roof. To the point I have to close the cloth cover if I have someone else in the car and I really want to hear what they have to say (Ha!)

The 'helicopter' effect is not unique to the Endeavor - any car with just one window open will be liable to this to a greater or lesser extent - it happens as the air is sucked out of the single open window as a result of airflow and air pressure differences. Opening another window allows the pressure to equalise itself better so that this 'helicopter' effect doesn't happen!

What is wrong with the drive shaft that will cause this sound?
