SO I OWN AN 1995 ECLIPSE GS AND IT' S FINALLY GOING TO BE ON THE STREETS SOON! I HAVE OWNED IT FOR ABOUT 4 YRS. NOW AND IT HAS GIVEN ME ALOT OF TROUBLE. I PRETTY MUCH REBUILT EVERY THING EXCEPT THE SUSPENTION.
I HAVE REBUILT THE ENGINE (HIGH COMP. PISTIONS) THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR, EGR, TRANSMISSION (STICK), RADIATOR, BELTS, COILS, TUNE UP, MATRIX HEADERS, MATRIX COLD AIR (2 PIECE). EXHAUST PIPE( 3A RACING, NOT A KNOWN BRAND BUT DOES THE JOB, AND A NEW COMPUTER.
I KNOW THAT SOUNDS LIKE ALOT OF WORK BUT I GOTTA SAY THAT IM IN LOVE WITH MY CAR LOL. LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU GUYS THINK ABOUT WHAT I HAVE DONE AND WHAT COULD BE MY NEXT PROJECT. THANXS

QUOTE(greenydsm @ Jul 27 2008, 12:10 AM) well..
you kinda screwed yourself for alot of things(engine wise) when you threw the high comp pistons in all motor builds on eclipse are completely retarded unless you have crazy cash to spend.
if you woulda put low compression pistons in
you coulda turbo'd and the hole 9 yards you can go the n/a route but its really not worth the money
+1 and why are you yelling?

Drives: 1996 Talon AWD. Built, but no longer drives: 1997 mitsubishi eclipse RS; 1990 Talon AWD; 1995 Talon AWD, 1997 Talon AWD. Seems like a pattern

if he stayed with stock 9:1, metal headgasket and used good rods he can still turbo, just use a smaller one, run 93 octane or higher, keep it rich.
the 420a holds together a little better than the 4g63 because of the bedplate main

it depends. in most cases, yes. But when comparing it in the aftermarket and speaking in terms of forced induction or performance (ranging from 8.3:1, 8.6:1, 9:1, 10.5:1, 12:1) 9:1 would fall in the category of high compression.

Where or how can I be able to tell how big or how strong my pistions are ? The guys who put in the motor told me this infomation? They basically just put in the motor and thats it. But other than that I think my car feels faster than before. I think i may be able to put in a reasonable size turbo kit on my car.
oh for the note, when I start my car (while cold) from the hood area it makes this crakling noise while warming up. But when warm and driving around it stop this weird noise and thats it. only while cold.
