Hello Folks,

I have tried searching but cannot come up with what Protocol the Carisma 2002 DID, LE uses. I am in the UK.
I am attempting to purchase a code reader or a PC diagnostic program + lead.
Not too sure what to get.

The Check Engine light has come on for a while on the car. The power went down and the car would only do a max. of 60mph.
Parked car for an hour and it has not done this since.

The ERG (Exhause Gas Recirculator, contraption on top of inlet manafold with alot of small black pipes) valve is making a clicking noise now and again when the car is idleing. Is this normal?

Can I manually check this device? (will search for this as I have not yet done so!)

Any help appreciated as I was thiking of going on holidays with car.

LH

Greetings LumpHammer and welcome to the board (snigger :innocent:),

According to this page there is no cheap readly available diagnostics tool for using on the Diesel 2002 Carisma (UK).

http://www.gendan.co.uk/tool_chooser.php

There is evoscan http://www.limitless.co.nz

If I get a handbook for same (Carisma 2002) I will scan and post. In the meantime can anyone tell me what the 37km/h figure means that is showing up on the LCD display on the car. It varies a bit, someimes as low as 34km/h.

Some links that may be of help: (perhaps these have been posted here before)

Hello Folks,

Does this work:
http://alflash.com.ua/ReadMMC.htm

Anyone tried doing it. I guess it is OBDII only.

hi, mitsubishi uses MUT-11. the cheapest and the only tool to read engine fault codes is evoscan unless you want to spend hundreds for one that does all cars like snap-on etc. i use evoscan and it does the job.

Hi Stephen,

Thanks alot for reply. The board has more people asking question that people answering. Not running down the board by any means. I guess it can be tiresome doing all the work.
I am new to fixing cars with ECU's. My last car had none (1991 vintage), so I'm a bit of an ignoramus.
Don't fix cars professionally.
EvoScan it will be.
One question. What cable do you use? The EvoScan people sell one at 79 Dollars. They say it is super quick. I do not really need any great comm's speed.

Will a cheap ebay cable that's 'USB to OBDII' do the job do you know?

Cheers,
LH
