Hi everyone. I just purchased a 09 lancer gts cvt a week ago, so im still kinda fresh to the web site and my ride. With that out of the way lets get back to my whip.I bought the car from a dealership last monday with 7900 clicks on it...great ride but im not too familiar with the cvt trany so im not sure whats normal and whats not.I notice the car a clicking sound when driving and when in park running. Its a noticable sound especialy when driving slow with the windows down. The click omes on the fan kicks in and the rpm needle twitches up. Than it clicks again and the fan shuts down. I was told by the daeler thats normal but im not sure if he telling me what i wanna hear.I also notice the car slows dow faster than normal to me especialy when im going at a slower speed. Im not sure if thats a normal occurance with the cvt. What do you guys think am i over reacting or should i be concerned, especialy since the car is practically brand new? Thanks for your intrests and im open to any other unreleated advice.

Actually, the CVT takes a longer time to slow down when coasting as opposed to running it in manual... but that has nothing to do with the clicks :)

As for the clicks, I'd say it's your fan speeding up. When it's hot outside, your car needs to keep cool too. I've noticed my car do it from the day I drove it off the lot with 10 miles on it. That click is the fans speeding up to keep the car temperature regulated which causes the car to work harder, thus explaining the higher RPM while idle. If you have your A/C on, this will happen at almost every stop.

It has nothing to do with the CVT, so you needn't worry.

like willy said...
the manual will slow quicker than the cvt. I drove both and I thought I read some reviews that has manual stopping a few feet quicker. it could just be that the lancer just plain out stops quicker than your previous ride? could also be the "feel" of the cvt, it is different. even in reviews I read, from guys who review cars for a living, they all said the cvt takes some getting used to, some liked it, some didnt, most agreed it was a different feeling.
and the click is the fan / AC turning on/off. I actually never noticed the click and when i read this said you guys are nuts there's no click, so I went out to the car and sure enough there is a loud click when the AC / fan turns on and a light whining noise when the fan speeds up via climate control. thanks for pointing it out, now i hear it all the time lol :)

CAI like the Injen right now gives you more power in the high ends. SRI will give you the low ends. There is RRM's v2 intake but they have no numbers to back up their product which is why i refuse to get it (also price). Fujita has an SRI but they have been having CEL problem from day one. They are working on their v3 and if that works i might go for that if K&N doesnt have their SRI yet.

Anyways SRI will give you some more low end power to accelerate better.
RRM also have their v2 pulley which can give you bettter accelerating.
Get a custom exhaust or go with hks, greddy, or any other you find for our car that you like.

I have taught you well... :amen: Go in peace.

By the way, I've come to realize that RRM is anti-dyno. They released a freaking TURBOCHARGER for the Lancer and all they can say is it gives a "50% increase in HP." Makes me wonder if RRM even HAS a dyno!

Anywho... you can read up more on CAI's HERE and get some more info on the SRI vs. CAI war on THIS LINK. Take your time, search the forums, and feel free to ask any questions you might be stumped on. We're more than happy to help! :grouphug:

Thats some great info, seems like im learning something new every time i login. thanks alot LP4b11. Do you use standart 87 fuel? or do you go with something with a higher octane.? I was told premium can damage your engine in the long run, plus the manuel recomends 87...does it not?

It means they either dont like using a dyno or they just dont have one becuase they feel their product is good anyways.... and if you need to know what a dyno is... well your on your own... I assume you already know if your looking into performance though. As for gas every person in my family runs a different gas and I have seen neither lag or dissapointment out of either form on the Lancer im not sure maybe there is something, my sister runs a mani pontiac and she drive premium 92, my dad runs a perfomance modded escalade EXT on premium 92 and it hasnt hurt him (except for gas prices), my mom runs 89 in her minivan, and my brother drives like anything in his Dodge Caliber (as bad as that may seem) their vehicles have all done fine... just from one newbie to another.

I run regular 87, the cheap stuff. It does it's job and there is no reason for me to go higher as of now. I don't need that extra octane boost because i don't have any AM mods that require it because it will make my car run a bit lean or w/e.

Meaning that they don't test their "claimed" gains on a dyno....to give you solid proof of their power increases....or decreases.
They just make claims that their product will give you MUCHO HP & TQ GAINS!!!!

Had to use capitals like some companies do to exagerate their claims.

But if you want ALL the extra power....YOU MUCH CALL NOW! Limited time only....
not available in all states....blah, blah, blah....HA-HA-HA!
