All the horsepower that you could ever want!!!!!

As far as I know....there is no chip out yet...only a reflash of the existing computer from WORKS or RRM.

100 horsepower from a chip?!
I don't think so...
Is it magic or something? Or something I have completely no clue about?!
You kidding me?

Works is the only reliable ECU flash available right now. RRMs is a piggyback, which does make it easy to go back to stock, but it doesn't respond well to Enerpulse's famous Pulstar spark plugs.

Works' reflash claims something in the area of 17 HP and 18 TQ over stock on a dyno. You even get better gas mileage (slightly better). Problem with the works reflash is that you have to stick to 91 or 93 octane fuel, depending which you choose. Lower octanes won't get you enough boost to justify the flash.

Holy **** that creeps me out!!! :liebe011: for that 6feet

Aftermarket chips will replace the stock one in your ECU and is basically like a mini computer for your engine. the chip will contain certain values that result in higher fuel rates during certain driving conditions. they can tell your car to supply more/less fuel at full throttle at every engine speed or they can also change the spark timing, but the MIVEC does that automatically so that won't do you any good.
I would never buy an chip off ebay. Who knows whats been "programmed" into it. Worst thing it could fry your ECU

However I think most if not all chips are just a crock..... they don't do anything for you. You arn't gonna get 100hp or even 10hp out of it. Save your money for something worth it.

:P Yeah I know......it just cracks me up to see such crap. If you get some of these crappy chips that there selling.....I have heard that they may work for a little while....but the cars computer relearns things & eventually eliminates the so called chip...end result...you threw your $$$ away.

WORKS tune isn't a waste. I had a similar thing done to my 2003 TrailBlazer 5.3 V8
Except they had extra computers at the place...I didn't have to send mine in.
They programmed it to my specifications & BAM! It really made a difference. Better mileage def! Better acceleration..most def! Plus it was set up as a 2 way octane...I could run either 89 or 91/93. The computer would automatically adjust.
Usuing premium netted better power output...but I really couldn't tell the dif between running mid grade & premium. Plus I kept my stock computer if I ever wanted to just switch back. If WORKS offered the same thing...where we didn't have to send our computers out.....they just sent us one & we send them our stock one back AFTER we install the performance one....they would get alot more biz...especially mine! But I know why it can't be done that way. It is really just easier for them to do it the way that they are currently doing it. That way the computer came from your car & is set up with the exact options your car came with & so on.....I'm def. considering this for the future IF fuel prices come down.
Heck, I prob be able to chirp the tires from a start with this done

+1

Works should consider letting us swap ECUs. We pay them (extra for the additional ECU as a security deposit), they ship it out, we ship ours out. If we don't send our ECU, they keep the deposit. It works for me!

I asked about them stocking extra computers. They program theirs & send it to us & if we decide on shipping ours back...then we get the security deposit back.
They don't want to do that. If they did....they really would get more biz for sure.
I know I would have bought it already.

That'll prob. be my Christmas present to myself. Ho-Ho GO!

Don't see why not. The one thing that I was told before is that your computer is obviously ment for your car & it's programmed with all of your options.
Buying another computer it would have to be prob. programmed to be exactly like yours before doing so. I can't imagine this being cheap. Prob a few hundred $$$ for the computer & the programming. Wonder if you can get one form a recked Lancer for a bunch cheaper.......
Plus the dealership would then question why you needed another.....

When I did my TrailBlazer.....the guy only charged something like $120 core charge for the computer....so I kept mine....just in case. Now my just in case is collecting dust in the garage....but it's always good to have a back-up.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind running the 93 octane stuff if it meant more HP, TQ, AND better mileage... just not all of them at the same time

But my Lancer is my daily driver. I can't live without driving it.

so for all the fuel controllers do you have to run 91+ octane fuel? even apexi's new piggyback fuel controller?
