Since I'm a Welder n metal worker i'm looking into making my own CAI and i was wondering if you guys can tell me where i can find the specific dimension of like the injen CAI so i can reproduce the exact same thing! I've been searching but nothing good enough so far!

The only thing i can't make myself is the filter presently im looking to get a Apexi filter since its the only one i found that are make for lancers. I'm also wondering if u guys can help me find the best filter $/quality.

I also have a doubt about those Hydroshield, because I live in quebec and don't know if those Hydroshield would also work for snow n Ca!

thx
jay
p.s. I'm doing my best to make it as clear as possible but english is not my first language so don't be too rough on my grammar n stuff :)

Personally, I have the Hydroshield and I have used a high pressure water hose right into the wheelwell where the filter sits and the filter was perfectly protected. No issues whatsoever... besides, the engine isn't strong enough to pull water up the intake to cause problems.

What kind of dimensions were you looking for?

This is an old post but i decided that after making a custom SRI for my 2008 lancer I will probably be making a custom CAI for my 2009 gts. I will incorporate a piece of a 2004 Nissan 350z injen CAI (the portion that puts the filter down near wheel (the black material portion)) and the stock airbox/tubing. I plan to cut the stock airbox right after the maf sensor. I will then cut a small portion off the sri tubing i have and connect it straight to the throttle body then using the stock tubing i will connect the maf sensor to the rest of the injen tubing that will go down to the wheel well.

my friend with the 350z just gave me this tubing today so I havnet investigated it much. i will be buying a stock airbox from a wrecked 2008 lancer here in san antonio for 45.00 . the rest of the parts i have. Ill post pics as progress (if any ) is made.

having your own made it is +1!
You might wanna just go to an exhuast shop and see if they can bend you some custom piping. Or even buy some PVC. Either way get some pics up of the DIY!

project is back on, just bought an evo x stock airbox where the maf holder is removable unlike ours where its attached to the airbox. the airbox should arrive within a week or two

until then i have to wait

again not sure if i am going to make it CAI or SRI. CAI involves me finding another spot for my aftermarket alarm horn, custom piping, removing the drivers side front wheel to get to the filter placement...then again making an sri would be blah! cuz it would basically look like rrm v1 intake which i dont like very much at all...

decisions decisions
