Yeah, so I keep burning through LED city lights... something about them flickering after using them for about a month. Apparantely, heat and voltage spikes will cause premature failure... but if it was a voltage spike, wouldn't ALL my LEDs fail? This is why I believe it is heat related since the LEDs I used to use weren't designed for heat applications. I used to use THESE, but now I use THESE.

Problem with the second ones is that they are 6000K white, so they have a slint of blue in them (which looks bad compared to my 5000K HIDs).

I want to get another take on what everybody else uses for LED city lights and if anybody else has been having problems with using LEDs in the city lights.

I'm considering these... because I have them for my tail markers and they are BRIGHT! LINKY!

I haven't found the answer to whats going on w/ the city lights either.
I bought some blue ones.... three months later (now) they're lighting up in a light green color.
I did skimp on em... just went to autozone and bought em.
Didn't do autolumination, so I figured it was cuz I went with the cheapeez.

I guess LEDs aren't as popular a mod as I thought they would be. Fortunately, Chris from Superlumination has been responding to all my e-mails promptly. Hopefully I can get some good suggestions on heat resistant LEDs.

And for those of you who don't know, the heat insulation for our headlamps is either poor or non-existant. Heat is the reason why my Matrix LEDs keep failing. I switched to the 4 Star SMTs and they have no issues at all.

4 star SMT's for the win. I'm using those for my city lights too. Just use the matrix in my license plate lights, which seems to be a lot better ventilated so they remain cool.

Unfortunately my dome light inside the cabin failed after just a couple months of use :(

Makes me question their quality. I've decided between these LEDs:

194 Supernova's with heatsink
194 SMT Tower

I like the SMT towers because they project light in all directions, so the entire housing is lit up (just like the Matrix bulbs that keep failing). What do you guys and gals think?

The ones in the picture I posted above... the 194 SMTs. If I still have the same problem with these things, I'm just gonna get the 194 Supernova's with the metal heatsink and transfer the 4 star SMT's to my license plates.

Sigh... I wish they worked just fine from the get go.

I already have the same 4 star SMTs that you do... it's just that the 6000K white looks really bad with the 5000K HIDs. I went with the ones in the picture above. I hope they work out.

Got a nice little package from AutoLumination today!

(IMG:http://superlumination.com/images/auto_bulbs/194smt_w_wm.jpg)

Man these things are BRIGHT! Way brighter than the 4 star SMTs... now they just need a durability test.
