At the beggining of this week i discovered there was a crack in my radiator. I replaced the radiator, and the thermostat since i was there. When i went to start the car, i neglected to connect the Mass Airflow Sensor. As you can tell, the light came on and it hasnt gone off.

Is there a way to reset the light without taking it to a dealership (as i believe they charge for it)? One of my co-workers has a code reader but im not sure its for a mitsubishi, and I dont know if it resets codes. Any help would be awesome.

Thanks

You should be able to use your friends reader to reset it, or you can take it into an Autoparts store like AutoZone and they can do it for you. Or you can simply disconnect your battery for about a minute and it will do the same, but you will also loose your radio settings and stuff.

If the battery is disconected (or the car somehow looses power), the radio locks itself and you have to enter a 4 digit code. Its a theft detterent thing, as it wont work without the code. If it happens you can call a dealer and give them the serial number of the radio and they can give you the code.

I tried the autozone idea and was able to reset the code. Thanks for that tip, it was incredibly helpful (saved me munnies)

Usually the dealership will charge you for getting an unlock code for your radio. And in my Eclipse I had the battery unplugged with the stock radio and it didn't lock itself. Maybe mine was just messed up or something. But there is a thread on this site where a guy can get you the code for free if you call the dealer and they try to charge you for the code.

If you need your 4 digit code, call 888-MIT-SU20 (888-648-7820). Initially they will ask for the last 8 digits of you VIN and some personal info. But what is really needed to get your code is the serial number and part number of your radio.

On my 2000 Eclipse GS, I removed 2 screws on the underside of the center dash section to remove it from around the radio. The serial number and part number (starts with MR) are right on the top of the radio. I gave these numbers to the Mitsubishi service person over the phone and received my 4 digit code.

My radio was actually locked out (showing "OFF" on the display). I was instructed to put the key in the ignition, turn it to ACC, turn on the radio (mine showed "OFF" in the display), and leave it that way for about 45 min to 1 hour in order for the radio to reset. It took just about an hour for mine. The radio will actually power down and the display will therefore go blank. Power on the radio and it will display "MODE".

Enter the code by using the memory buttons 1, 2, 3, and 4 to program your code. Once your code is displayed, press the TAPE or CD button. Your radio should now work.

Hope that helps!

I think only the infinity radios had the unlock codes. I could be wrong.
