Everybody say a silent prayer...

(IMG:http://img507.imageshack.us/img507/8943/deathofalancerhp4.th.jpg)

Was on the way to getting her first service, and somebody decided to not pay attention to vehicles on the road.. including mine.

I'm fine, car's not.
Getting my new one middle of next week. My dealership has been awesome these past two months.

I guess it was hit just in the right place at the right velocity to do significant enough damage to warrant a loss. My insurance covered it completely.

I *hate* the bus :P

I guess there was damage to the unibody. The person said they were going between 50 and 55, but I personally believe over 60 (kph, not mph) to spin me 180 degrees that quickly.

No, the car doesn't get parted. Our auto insurance handler here (there's only one) only puts entire vehicles on auction once a week. Curious to see what it goes for during the next month...

Two months old to the exact day...

Not to mention air bag deployment. It's pretty expensive to replace and reset airbags to full functioning order... I'm not saying it was a smart move on your insurance agency, but at least you get a new car out of it.

Actually, it might work to your benefit. Now you know all the problems people have with this car and you can remedy it before you even get Lancer #2!

Yeah, I'm going to get the things I experienced fixed before I drive off the lot if they exist on this one as well (the drifting left, for example)... actually that was the only problem I had with that one that was readily identifiable.

As much as I loved that car, I'm actually glad it worked out the way it did. Safety and depreciation were the two biggest issues on my mind afterwards, so a new one was the best possible outcome after the friggin' incident.

My dealer has hooked me up with the S&S package which I didn't have before, so I figure either my love for the car is going to grow or I'm going to run into a new host of issues. Hey, that's life.

I've only seen pictures of the RotorGlow, but I'm not into flash colours. It would definitely attract attention (especially the kinds I don't want), but I liked the Charcoal. Besides, with the paint and clear coat being as thin as they are now, what's the point of having a really eye-popping colour when it's going to be marred by pits and scratches =/ If I really feel so inclined, I'll get it repainted later on down the road using my own formulation.

.. well, that, and they only had one manual tranny version left on the lot :o It's just awesome that it worked out that it was the colour I wanted.

RIP Lancer #1, you always put a smile on my face.

Oh yeah...your going to love the Sun & Sound Pkg.

Maybe you can work a deal with the deale & have them 3M the bits of the car that's going to chip BEFORE taking delivery of it. Big Plus there +

As far as the pulling to the left...STILL???!!!! I had that issue with my 08 with the Dunlops. I complained so much they replaced the tires with Pirellis. I have a thead on that....but to get to the pont....the Pirellis rode better, but didn't handle as well as the Dunlops. They are supposed to be better in the snow over the Dunlops......

Do more wheelin & dealin with the dealer. Make it know on the test drive about the pulling problem....if #2 has a pulling problem....& complain like he!!. Maybe they will swap out the Dunlops for another kind. As far as my research went...looking at TireRack.com , the Pirelli P-Zero Nero's that they put on mine are the best available in the size that we need. Of course if you were able to get 1 size wider...225's, you could always get the Goodyear F1's...those rock!

See what they'll do for you. They should be pretty happy that your buying another car from them....let's just see how happy. Make them work for your extra biz :57:

They fixed the left pull by a toe adjustment on the last one. It tracked perfectly true (influenced by the road conditions, obviously) on the stock Dunlops. I'll just have them do the same if it happens again.

The 3M protection I'll have to look into, but it's also all the other places besides the skirt and hood that I'm worried about. That clear & paint scratches too easily everywhere.

Yeah, I do. The leather, well, I really liked the old seats. Of course, every little light brown or blonde hair belonging to other people in your car always stuck to them like glue.. leather isn't so bad and the maintenance of vehicle leather is like a sacred ritual -- much like hand polishing every chrome piece.

With 210km on it, I don't feel it drifting to the left. I'll have to give it a bit more mileage before I can fully declare it.

I'll tell you one thing.. after putting 4500km on the last one and breakin in the drive train to the point where you're no longer "worried" about >100kph or >4k rpms, it's hard to drive this car gingerly :)
