Very easy question. I just got my GST a couple days ago and Im loving it! What my friend did notice was that I dont have a return hose for the BOV. He said that putting it on will reduce the sneeze noise it makes drastically.

I simply love the noise it does when the turbo kicks in. Can I pass out without it or will I be doing harm to the engine?

You dont have to hook up a return hose if it was tuned to run in its current set up. (venting to atmosphere) If it wasnt tuned for it it can cunfuse the ECU and cause you to run rich. But if its running good i doubt you have any reason at all to put the hose back on it. in fact if it was tuned to run venting to atmosphere it would probably do more bad than good to hook it back up.

I was sitting here for like 10 mins trying to figure out what hose he was talking about, but now I get it. If your running like the greddy s or soemthing, you can buy a recirc kit off extremepsi and it comes with the material to cap off the inatke so you can vent. Please dont just TAPE it off. The recirc kit is only like $30 max and extreme is amazing for FAST shipping

I have this setup as well. If you give too much boost though and let it idle out afterwards the car has a chance of cutting off.

yeah I guess it would be cheaper, but overall tacky. I guess it all depends on his situation really, but your right, he needs to cap it off or soemthing to be safe

to answer the question. for the most part, no you can't take it off. if you do your car will run like a$$. yes you get a "louder" blow off but if thats all you care about for the cars sake sell it. the point of the recirculation hose is to get you better boost building. when you shift the extra air blows off into your intake so when you building RPM's again you've already got a somewhat forced induction. you don't have to wait as long for your turbo to spool up.

and it messes up your idle somewhat and it makes the car seem more jumpy or rough. but by all means take it off if you want to. then like attack said, post back after. :57:

Or... If all you are wanting is the sound, and you still want your car to run properly, you can just pull out the dump tube from inside the intake and cut it down. You will spool a little faster and you will hear it more. The whole reason mitsubishi put that tube in there and made it so long was so it would be quiet! HAHA! Can you believe that? So cutting it down won't hurt anything.

Here's the intstructions:Cut BOV Dump Tube Mod

lol, I've had this in my eclipse for a bit until I finally found a cap to plug it with.

It ran good too with no idle problems or shortage of power.

Until you've used the following to plug holes or to keep things from popping off you are not a true Mitsubishi owner.

D-cell battery
Film canister
Tennis ball
water bottle.

And the HKS SSQV is one of the best BOV out there, and no Im not just saying that because I have one :P
