Has Anybody Tried putting Nitrogen on their Tires? Did you see any improvement on the MPG?

Yes... and it was discussed before. Behold the power of the SEARCH FEATURE!
Nitrogen Filled TiresSearch first, ask questions later.
But since this post has a nifty link for a Nitrogen Calculator, I'll give it a shot! As far as the website goes, I did the calculator. I drive about 10,000 miles a year, $145 to replace a tire, $4.20/gallon for gas, and 21 MPG (I'm learning SixFeetDeep). It said I would save $80 on gas... in one year. At my current rate of driving, I won't have to replace my tires for another year. Doesn't make much sense to pay extra for nitrogen when oxygen is free. When I broke it down, by switching to Nitrogen, I'd save $0.008 per mile driven. Whooptie doo. Here's the best part about the website...
"Nitrogen in tires is becoming a popular replacement for standard air. Nitrogen is all around us...
the air we breathe is 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen and the rest is small amounts of other gasses."
They have their facts all screwed up. It is true that the Earth's atmosphere is mostly nitrogen and about 20% oxygen, but that doesn't mean we are breathing nitrogen! No human being can breathe nitrogen. Nitrogen is LIGHTER than oxygen, so it floats above the oxygen in the outer spheres (stratosphere... whatever).
Amazing how simple facts can be used to mess with your mind!
