QUOTE(freakingwilly @ Aug 2 2008, 09:40 PM) Yes and no. I'll explain with stories.
Yes: If I go to my car and unlock the doors either from the remote or by grabbing the handles, the doors will automatically lock after X number of seconds. By default it's 30 seconds, but it can be changed through the ECU (Navigation packages can do this, otherwise you have to take it to the dealer).
No: If I just finished driving my car, turn the car off, and leave. The doors will not lock. There's no way to remedy this from what I know. Really annoying too.
I agree, the fast key thing is cool, but it has some annoying features. One is that if you lock the door from the door lock button inside the car, exit the car and close the door, the alarm does not turn itself on. Two is that when you use the fob to lock the door, it does lock the door and set the alarm, but there is no audible beep alerting you that the alarm did in fact activate. It would be nice to have the audible beep, so you can just walk away from the car, hit the lock button on the fob, hear the alarm activate and you know your good. Three is that the only way to lock the doors, get the audible beep, and have the alarm set is to push the fast key button on the outside door handle, which is not as convenient as the first two options to lock the door. I got used to hitting the fast key button on the door handle so I could lock the doors, get the beep and have the alarm set, but I wish I could just hit the door lock button inside the car when exiting to lock the doors and then closing the door would automatically set the alarm. I cant imagine a time when you would not want to have the alarm on, so it would be nice if the alarm just turned on automatically when the door is locked and you close the door. Thats how my toyota solara worked. But all that aside, its still a cool feature.

Mine is the opposite. It'll lock and beep with the key FOB but it'll only lock (no beep) with the button on the handle. I've never tried locking it from the inside. Probably wouldn't work for me though, since I set it up where it unlocks as soon as I shift to P, and the doors won't stay locked from the inside (while in P) with that option.

QUOTE(lovethelancer @ Aug 3 2008, 12:09 AM) ummm....i get out of my car, close the door and hit lock on my FOB.....the doors lock, the car beeps, and the alarm activates.......
are you saying yours doesnt do that?
Mine beeps, locks, and sets the alarm with the fob and with the buttons on the outside of the doors. I have never tried with the buttons inside though. I did play with all the settings on the NAV when I first got the car to make the beep sound and the alarm set feature but I don't recall what I did. I just started pushing buttons and saying this looks cool!! :)

QUOTE(freakingwilly @ Aug 4 2008, 06:49 PM) I set mine up so that if I hit the lock button on the remote TWICE, the car will answer back with a horn honk. By doing this, I know if all the doors closed securely. If any door is only half closed, the car will NOT honk back. All the doors still lock and the alarm will still activate, but it's a nice safety feature to add to the list.
I agree with freakingwilly, back years ago (in the Philippines) with my old 1994 Lancer we use to call that double locking. One button click will set the car on a sensitive alarm mode (knocking the tires, load noises, somebody moving/closing on the car for several seconds will trigger the alarm). Double click will armed the alarm and will be triggered if someone tries to open the door without disabling the alarm first. I dont think this hold true for the 2008/09 Lancer though. Havent read the manual yet.

Just got back from the dealer and I asked them about changing the settings on my fast key system, so that it beeps when using the fob. After they consulted the fast key documentation, they told me that cars without the nav cannot change the fast key settings, only nav owners can. He was telling me about all the things nav owners can change, its pretty cool. Us non-nav owners cant change anything really. Oh well, my manual came without the nav and I much rather have the manual than the nav and a cvt. :) Good news is freakingwilly mentioned how with a double click on the fob you can lock, set the alarm, and have the horn honk. Well mine does do that right now, so I can just do the double click, honk horn deal and that works fine for me. (thanks FW) Just some info for non-nav, fast key owners.

QUOTE(JWhat89 @ Aug 29 2008, 08:11 PM) How do you adjust all that fun stuff if you have the nav (which i do)
I cant remember for sure but i think you go to the system settings menu on the nav and the fast key settings should be on there
