NRG went to a their meet last summer lots of Hondas... I mean all hondas, and some street bikes.... and a dakota and a ford ranger.

Steve knows what he's doing, but when I talked to him he had said he had experience with DSMs and EVOs but no 3/S's.
Pretty sure I talked to Steve.

I am pretty sure NRG Tech in long island is building his car.

I was at the NRG shop last summer and talked with a person claiming to be an owner or something of the sort.

Why would you have all that work done to your car and not even drive it?

When you have that much HP on tap, you really want the best driver/s available. It's not a 12 second car you're driving to and from the track.

You may want the best driver available but give credit where its due and be honest.

It's not hard.

That's like buying a new house and saying someone else could decorate it better, so they can live there...

What's the point? It's a waste of money

If you're going to throw that much at a project what's the fun if you're not the one pushing the peddle?

not really a valid comparison there...decorating is to your personal taste, driving is just a skill. And he wouldn't be giving the car to anyone.

A better comparison would be building a custom a stunt plane. Yea, you can have fun flying it around, but if your looking win an airshow, you want your investment to be in the hands of a pilot that knows wtf they're doing.

unless you happen to be a stunt pilot

You wouldn't be winning an air-show, they would...

You would be sitting there watching someone else do some BA stuff in something you spent money on making...

If you personally built the plane you could say sure I did one heck of a job on that thing, or if you're flying it you could say I flew the hell out of that thing...

If you're the one paying for it, you sit there with you're finger up your bumb saying "See their achievements?! I paid for them"n

how many nascar/formula 1 drivers build their own car. answer this question and you'll see why.
the best builder isn't the best driver and vise versa. but get a great builder and driver, and you'll win.

whether he drives it himself or not, when the car breaks the current 1/4 mile record, it will be Nelson Performance that breaks the record. Yes, the driver's name will be atattched to that, but it will be ..."bob jones IN the Nelsom Performance 3000GT..."
bob jones probably doesn't have a website and people aren't going to search for bob jones when they go looking for 3/S parts.

HE'S NOT BUILDING THE CAR!

Its his money. Lets have Ray build me an engine and then post them for sale on my own site and double the price AND CALLS THE ENGINE AS MY OWN!!!!!!!!!

Give credit where its due.

blayze - it's an age old discussion but your argument of owning/racing a car to a house is pretty silly. In the end, it comes down to EACH TO THEIR OWN. People know nelson and the kind of person he is. Word gets around on the various setups, whose driving them and who built them. Karma can be vindictive. ;)

All arguments aside, I would like to see any updates to this car. Has it come along at all?

I was just watching a dyno video of it making over 1300awhp. pretty kick-ass. It even knocked some shit off the walls

as far as I know, he hasn't run it yet, though.
