Hi,
I have a 1993 Mitsubishi Expo (Eagle Summit DL). The window has come off of its track will not roll down. Without a functioning air conditioner, this becomes quite a problem.
My trouble is that I can't figure out how to remove the door locking stem it order to get the interior door panel off. In every other one I've seen, the stem is round and just unscrews. This one is rectangular and cannot be unscrewed. Any ideas?
Thanks

I have just finished repairing my power door locks and changing key cylinder, so this is very fresh on my mind :) .

Here is what you do:

1. Remove screws holding on the panel. There are four of them: two in the front (covered by plastic covers), one the bottom center ( you can barely see it) and one on the upper rear, by the locking mechanism.
2. Remove the door handle (which just a deep pocket), it is held in by a screw at the bottom AND it is pressed into the door panel. You then have to pry the handle up, but be careful because you can damage the panel doing this! The handle must be removed in order to allow the door panel to slightly come away from the door.
3. Remove the trim around “pull handle” which opens the door. It is self-explantory (just one screw).
4. Now you are ready to pop the panel away from the door. There are “push-fasteners” around the speaker, bottom and the rear of the door. The trick here is to only pull 1-2” away from door, just enough to dislodge the fasteners.
5. Now, you are ready for the most difficult part. The top of the panel. You need pull the panel away from dory 1-2” and slip your hands as close to the top as possible, you then pull the panel UP until it lets go! You might have to use jerking motion, but it will eventually come loose. After you do a few of these you will know exactly how much force to apply  . It helps to have the window down (which you may not be able to do), because you can reach in at the corner and also pull up with your other hand.

The locking stem does not even needs to be touched! ;) And if it was removed (the only way to do it is to break it), it would not help your cause :).

Edit: if you need any parts, I have a bunch power window components from my parts car.

That did it! Thank you so much :)
Now to the real problem. I thought it would be a simple problem but with these cars it never seems to be :)
The car doesn't have power windows. A few months ago (right about the same time the A/C died), the window roller became very resistant and the window seemed "detatched" from the roller; the window seems to fall down instead of going with the roller and with the window down I can pull it back up. I thought it had come off of its track but hasn't. Since all of the mechanics are inside the door I can't really see whats going on. Anyone had a similar problem?
Thanks

You are very welcome!

I do not have much experience fixing “dropping window” problems, but my DS window did “bang” every time it went all way down. Turns out, the rear window track unbolted from the inside of the door, fell off and was laying on the inside of the door!

In my case, the fix was extremely easy, I just slipped the rubber guide into the channel and bolted the track back where it belonged. It has been fine ever since. So I would start by checking the condition of both front and rear tracks.
