I don't see why not... but it would have been easier if you wanted them before you bought your car (chances are, the Evo wasn't out yet when you did :bwekk: ).

But good luck... only way is for them to order the Recaro seats. They aren't going to pull them from an Evo and they'll give you the lowest dollar amount possible for your seats.

A new shape of racing foam can be replace your factory foam and won't cause you too much. simply take out your factory seat foam from the seat and replace it by the new foam. after replacing the foam, you seat were turn bracket look.

If you do not wish to spending too much $$ and this an Idea :alien:

I know that sometime this site is taboo on here but have you tried Ebay? You might be able to find some Recaros on there for cheap. If you can find out which ones they are....
I think the dealer is going to rape you on price if you go through them, you might even try a smaller body/custo shop too.

Aftermarket seats without airbags will trip the cars Service/Maintenance Required light. This is why I suggested the dealership first.

And I agree, most racing seats (like the Recaro's) do not have airbags. Weight reduction people!

Is there an echo in here?

Willy... since you've read the manual front to back, is there anyway to get around the airbag light? I wouldn't wanna mess with it too much, but just wondering if its possible

I did what in the what what?

...

There's a wire harness that the airbag sensor plugs into for the seats. I guess if you could find a way to trip the sensor into thinking the harness is plugged in, that would work. Aside from telling you to go the dealership, I won't supply any methods (safety devices save lives). Last thing you need is a voided warranty or insurance problems with airbag bypasses.

They won't turn off the sensor, that's like asking them to remove your seatbelts... it's illegal. I'm saying ask them if it's possible to put the Recaro seats in a Lancer. If they say yes, then tell them "Well the Recaro seats don't have side airbags, how would you bypass the sensor?"

If no... well then you're on your own.

Recaro seats won't trip the CEL... they aren't altering the engine in anyway  . You will get a Service Required message on your dash every time you start up your car and it will block your gauges and stuff until you press and hold INFO.
