I drove my Galant GTZ to Best Buy the other day, spent 10 minutes in the store, and as I tried to start the car, it wouldn't start.

I have had no recent problems with this car. I've owned it for a little over a year now with no problems at all. The only thing I can really mention is that the panic alarm goes off randomly every now and then.

I had someone jump my car. My car started, but would not idle. I started it up again and kept it at a low rev and it was fine...but when I let my foot off the gas, it died.

I had it towed home so I could tinker with it. I hooked up the battery charger and it said my battery was at 94% still. I unhooked my battery and replaced with the battery from our family boat. The car started fine and was idling....sweet!

I immediately ran over to Kragen and bought a new battery. I got home, installed it and started up the car - no problems idling, nothing.

I got in it this morning and headed to work and made it 2 miles from my house and my car died. Not noly did it die in the intersection, but it would start up and then die at an idle again. I threw it in neutral and pushed it around the corner.

Same problem.

Can anybody help? Is it possibly the IAC?

Make that two of us...can anyone help with this problem?

My guesses are that I need to ....

1. clean the throttle body
2. change tps sensor
3. change fuel filter
4. change tcm

any ideas?

Hey man...

could be an electrical problem that may have reset or screwed up the ecu....may be related to the crazy securty system too...

its worth hoping for anyway...alot of other people have the same problem after working on their car or after a dealership who doesn't know their stuff works on their car...because unplugging the battery for a while will reset the ecu...

here are some steps to helping your ecu set itself correctly...

copied form another forum...its worth a try

Hey Guys hope this helps alot of you out for this method is a little different than most described on this site but worked a treat for me. My father use to be a mitsi mechanic until he went holden and told me how this is done and that it should work on most late model Mitsi's.
1st - Disconnect battery for atleast 10 mins. (Resets ECU to factory)
2nd - Connect battery
3rd - Turn car into on positon (DO NOT START ENGINE)
4th - Wait for necesary lights to turn of on dash turn off stereo and aircon
5th - Press acelerator hard to floor for 30 seconds
6th - Take foot of accelorator for 30 seconds
7th - Start car ( dont use acelerator if you can help it I did not need it)
8th - Leave running for atleast 20 minutes

As I said worked a treat for me, Hope this helps
***If you still have problems clean out throttle body with rag a and cleaner this can make a huge difference***

I have the same problem, but I think the crankcase pulley is off from the overhead cams.

Will the positioner automatically fix this? My son threw the alternator belt and at the same time broke off the accessory belt tensioner.

When he started it without the Accessory belt, it went to high reve RMP..then shut off...

Im getting intermittment contact on ingnition, but not enough to start the car.

I think he jumped it off time.

Any advice from the experts???

Thanks in advance..

Sam
