How about you just get an Injen CAI, a custom exhaust. Hell you don't need to get a turbo! Do you realise how expensive a turbo is to maintain? Even if you aren't paying for it (my parents paid for half of my car as i slaved for their shop for 3 years), you're going to have to take it to the shop every 2000-3000 miles for oil changes etc etc because Turbo has high maintainance. I'm 20 years old and i'm damn happy with my Lancer. Reason being is that i'm a Green P plater. In Australia it goes, Learners, Red P, Green P then Full license. Anything below full can't drive turbos and this car is great! It's tuneable with bolt ons and such but if you do want the full power, it's not economically viable. I mean hell, Mitsubishi sell the Evo X and that's the same price as doing a Lancer GTS from the ground up. They've done all the hard work for yoU!

And besides. Christ you're 16. You almost killed yourself on a bike and now you want to do the same to your car?

There's a reason why P Platers (usually aged 17-21) can't drive turbos here.

This is why.
(IMG:http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o280/ms_bodalicious/FUKENHELL.jpg)

That's my mates Skyline R33. Went over a crest, turbo kicked in as he accellerated just a little too fast, hit a wall at a school, wrote off the car, is being sued for damages.

He wasn't even being an idiot. It's just that driving a turbo isn't like driving a normal car and people don't develop proper hazard perception until they're 21.

I'm perfectly happy with my new exhaust and the CAI which hopefully is only a month away.

And for christ sake, your parents paid for your car. AND YOU'RE 16!!!!! Seriously if i had that car at 16, i wouldn't be on these forums. I'd be too busy out there getting PUSSAY

Oh and to reminicse, my first car at 17 was a 1996 Rav 4, 5 door with 150,000km on the clock. Hand brake was pretty much useless, no ABS and squeeled like a mo-fo but god did i love it. I miss it =(

What if you used the money to buy pretty much everything out there performance wise, and still prob have left over money to do rim, tires, and body kit? Mines a manual with the 2.0, CAI, Amazing sounding exhaust, tinted widows, rims to match! Its not super fast but it gets the job done! I'm getting the sway bar, ties, tower so that i can take those corners as fast as i damn well please! BTW I'm 22, my first car was a SATURN POS, my second was a truck 98 chevy k1500. I have busted my ass for the last 3 years workin 2 jobs, 60+ hours a week! I'm pretty young but I've worked for it. In summary improve the entire car first, then when another turbo comes out with a bunch of internals then get it! javascript:add_smilie(%22:sunce:%22)

Adding turbo to the normal stock lancer engine might be harmful for the engine and the transmission, those things wont be able to take the lots stress from the turbo boost and car speed. Not sure about turbo can affect the lifespan of our 2008 Lancer engine,i got friends who owned Lancer evo 3 and evo 4 type not evolution engine onboard where they went to a turbo workshop and installed a turbo and their engine never last long.
Instead they went back to the shop and installed used evo 3 engine onboard where i can see their cars still runs perfectly so far.You might as well wait for sometime to come and look for a used evolution x engine and then change swap ur stock lancer engine with it.

Hey Bo38,

Here is a thread that I was following a little while ago.
The ppl making this turbo kit are close to where I live.
Its still in development from what I know,
but they are taking their time (to get it right) and I believe making the entire turbo kit (internals and all)

Its quite a bit of reading tho (about 10pgs of posts and such), so be ready.
Just thought I'd point you in a direction of a turbo other than RRMs.

The fact that they are working on an entire turbo kit should be a plus for you.
Hope this helps

I still for some reason just can't justify spending at that kind of money to make my car a little over 200hp, aka still not fast lol. I am perfectly happy with it the way it is and to have an extra 5 to 6 grand in my pocket

I love cars too but like Ravine said.... if you almost killed yourself on the bike and your parents spent all that money to fix you up, you DON'T need to have a turbo under your hood. I know that you think its cool and all that, but seriously. Don't be cocky and think that that can't be you. I have a VR-4 (TT) and I know that I CAN go fast, but on roads I don't b/c there are other people on the road.... I have been in some accidents but none involving other cars ie:deer. B/c I drive safe, you'll find your insurance will be lower if you don't crash.
Invest in other internal mods, your parents bank account will thank you... and so will your alive body

my goal is 200hp ... and i dont think theres anyother way besides turbo ... 152 stock .. 11hp cai .. thats about all the inprovement i have .. so what 165 total with the v2pully and exhaust i have on there ... i dont even believe that .. i think maby 160 if im lucky right now ... this car weighs a ton i think .. when i have 4 people in the car i can tell its a puddle jumper ... if theres a way to get 200 hp without the trurbo .. i will do that .. but it will probly cost the same

Yeah, just be patient.... it takes a while to develop.
They dont just want a quick buck, they want to be reputable.

I feel ya on the speed tho.... especially once I watched this.
Are we really this slow?
When I drive mine, I feel faster that this, and I have a CVT GTS

I dont even own a lancer but for the price of a turbo installed 5,000-6,000, I could buy a evo if I saved up another 10,000 LOL. I dont see a point in spending that money bro. Like everyone else said, its really NOT your car and if something happens like you over boost and wreck the motor or tranny, you dont have a warrenty now. Just think about it.

If you want something turbo to mess with, search craigslist and ebay and whatnot, BUY your own car that YOU own. Get a eclipse or something turbo already. Hell I OWN my own car and it puts down more HP then your NEW lancer, and I only paid $425 for my car LOL. Im just tring to inform you on other options. the lancer is a nice DD and its being paid on. Gte yourself a project, we have a few guys on here selling their cars TURBO.

Yes, we really are that slow. 0-60 in about 10 seconds.... and most of it is in first gear. How sad.
