So heres the problem. I was sitting at a stop light and my car just dies. so i figure i just sliped the clutch a bit and killed it. I try and turn it back over, and nothing just sounds like starters cranking and nothing else and thats seems to be the issue. My first conclusion was timing belt broke, so i pull off the inspection plate, well it does need to be replaced before long but otherwise still intact no cracks, gouges ect.. all the serpitine belts move but not the timing belt........... I'm close to stumped. Its giving me the code of P0340 camshaft position sensor mailfunction. but a sensor shouldn't keep the hole cam from rotation. and if my pistions seem to crank but my cam dosn't are my valves toast??? Please help. I need back on the road.

if your cam is not spinning, your timing belt IS broken. It doesnt have to be in two pieces for the teeth to be stripped off, you know.
The engine is interference, so you will need a valve job if it is broken.
