You need to buy quality gauges. Defi, Autometer, ect.

Stay away from Prosport.

That said. Boost gauge. I like mine to have a peak hold feature. This is where you set a max pressure level and if the gauge ever passes that it will blink at you letting you know that you just overboosted. Also you when its hooked up and the car is running when you stab the gas at idle for just a second the needle SHOULD SNAP out of vacuum immediately. Any delay and you might not be able to catch an over boost in time to save your motor.

In short a quality boost gauge snaps out of vacuum to zero with no delay as soon as the gas is stabbed.

The next gauge should be a wide band O2 sensor and gauge. I recommend the AEM UEGO because its a complete package. Hook it up and go. Its all in one sensor and gauge, no calibration required. This is also a good gauge because it has a digital display along with the oscillating light show.

Stay away from narrow band A/F gauges as they really don't help you tune at all.

Those ^^ two are pretty much mandatory. The following are VERY good to have.

Exhaust Gas Temp (EGT) gauge. This measures the temp of your exhaust. This is good so that if your Wideband fails you can still determine if your running lean by the EGT's

Oil pressure gauge. Not having enough oil pressure will have you shopping for a new engine.

After those two

I like to have a voltmeter so I can tell if my alternator is dying. Its important that your alt and your charging system is in tip top shape because a drop in voltage will slow your fuel pump down and possible make you run very lean... = bad.

OH and first off get that piece of junk 3000GT intercooler off your car now. Its smaller then your stock one. Its actually half the size. The 3000GT guys use DSM intercoolers as an upgrade.

ANy.

not really

My guess is if the dumbass before you used a 3000GT intercooler then theres bigger and more important things to fix first. I mean I'll take a photo of the to side by side tonight and post them up by monday. Its not hard to see the that the stock one is better.

If your looking for a cost efficient gauge go with GlowShift. People bash on them all the time because they have the "light show" that people call rice but not many poeple give them a chance. my buddy has a boosted Integra and he uses all GlowShift and from first ahnd experience They are nice.

EDIT: Also, EMC, why are prosport so bad? I have heard nothing but good things about them in the past but I have never actually used them. Care to elaborate?

First off, I cam very close to buying prosport gauges. I liked the look, (Very Defi) The price, (Very cheap?) and local recommendations all pointed towards a go.

So then I dragged my feet a little and came across a thread titled, "So has Prosport gauges cleared their name?" I read it. The thread

Read it.

Every single time someone calls in to report a malfunction they are told that they are the first person to ever experience the problem.

Pay attention to i3igpete's posts as he says everything and shows everything I would.

Ondontii - is another person to pay attention to and ProSport is a Prosport rep sent in to try and make it all better as you can see he is an idiot.

If after reading through all 11 pages of that thread, anyone still wants to use a Prosport gauge or needs clarification on something let me know. I will answer it.

Oh and make sure you watch the video in post 49, as that is how a boost gauge should react when just lightly stabbing the gas at idle.

Plus its a sick 3000GT ;)

Also, keep in mind that a mechanical gauge will always respond faster then an Electric gauge.
