Am I the only one with this problem? Even at max ac and fan it is not enough to keep me cool in 80
Degree weather for short trips. I don't have the neat thermostat that the gts have.

What options do I have to boost my ac next summer.

nope, I don't have that problem on my 09 Lancer GTS.
Sometime I actually feel cold when I've the A/C on.

I'm in Boston, typical Summer temperature is around 80 degrees or so.

Wow...my air conditioner gets sooooo cold that I could swear I could hang fresh meat in there & freeze it!

See if your car is a little low on freon. IDK....see what the dealer says next time you stop in.

Yeah, could be your freon... maybe even your compressor.

I live in FL and it gets absolutely the temperature of hell sometimes.
This is from this thursday when I entered my car after work...
took about 5 minutes to get bone chillinly cold.

Yeah come on over to S. Texas.... thats what my temp looks like! My a//c seems to be fine. They do sell kits that you can use to 'reload' your freon, but I'd take it to the dealer first. Sounds like they might be able to see whats wrong

My car gets cold... but not Rocky Balboa punching cow carcasses cold. Maybe I should look into my freon... I mean, the dealership did sell me the car with low coolant too.

It also gets so hot here in SoCal. My GTS a/c work fine but in peak conditions even the coolest setting having some problem try to keep the inside cold. Maybe I should add a windows tint to help the a/c. What do you think?

Tints are a good way to keep heat out of your car while it's parked. It'll be about 80°F outside, but it'll feel like 100°F inside after it's been sitting in the sun.

Especially with the TB lancer. I did a double take almost but with my whole body. I sat in the car, then get right back out because it was too hot to even breathe.

If in the normal temperature operation your air-con are still functioning well. than i suspect your A/C are over charge of freon inside. during the operation of the A/C the freon were expanding inside the systems, the higher outside temprerature the more the freon gas absorb heat and gas expanding. and this will coz a high pressure inside the A/C systems. for safety reason and prevent the pipping to burst, there is a high pressure cut-off valve to off the compressor when there is a over pressure.

your problem are quite common happen. you can send your car to the workshop to adjust your gas pressure by using a manifold gauge. but remember only adjust your gas pressure under the hot weather.

I have to say that I agree.
I have the thermostat and it still works funky.
My previous cars used to cool down way faster!

My GTS has leather in it and this might be one of the reasons why it takes longer to cool the whole interior off .

I also own 2005 Mazda3s with black leather and it cools down twice as fast and has never been recharged!

Maybe they used some cheap crap compressor in mitsu!

Best way to keep the temp lower?
Close the sunroof shade, invest few bucks in sun shades for the front and rear and park where the shade is for most of the day.
Thats how I deal with it.

or

THE OTHER WAY :)

Well, short trips might not give the AC enough time to cool the car down.
However, the consensus seems to be that it's too slow, so take it to the dealership and have them look at it.
My AC keeps me cool (not cold, but I don't want it that way) in S. Fl. Again, I mostly use it when riding with other passengers and on the highway on way home form work as the car is really hot and the fan alone is hot..

Service dept, told me that it's just the way it works in all Lancers and there is nothing wrong with it.
It's just slow.
My short daily trips to work last 20 mins each way. I set the temp to 72' and it gets there when I need to get out.

I'm gonna call a BS on this one... Mine only takes a min to get cold! I don't have the climate control either... You have another Mitsu dealer in your town? Get a second opinion or tell him you know other people that dont' have that problem.

My service dept is doing a good work, it's the best service dept I've been going to so far.
You might got me wrong though:
The A/C gets ice cold in one minute or two but it takes forever to cool down the whole car.

Either way something is wrong and they should be fixing it and not pushing you out the door.... Take it back or to some other dealer
