Has anyone out there taken the dash apart to install an aftermarket stereo? If so I could really use some pointers. I'd like to move my deck over from my truck. FYI it's an '05 Outlander AWD, 5 speed. I figure I better ask before I start hacking and cutting  .

thanx in advance

6.5 in the doors. want u want to do first is to remove the knobs for the a/c and heater controls. then remove the two screws that hold the trim in place. i like to remove the cover around the gauges to make everything clip off alot easier, but before that the triangle shaped piece at the corner must be removed. once all that is removed then take off the trim where the clock is held on. remove the clock to remove some of the clutter that is around the stereo. once that is removed take off the trim around the stereo. then there are four screws that hold the deck in place. once u have the aftermarket deck dont worry about a ground wire cause the antenna is the ground so make sure that is connected. That is all to it.

The easiest way to install a new deck is to use an installation and wiring kit.
Found one that may work, using the good old interweb....

from:

BHA7001 Mitsubishi wiring harness

I have not had a chance to try these yet on my own Outlander, but the fitment guides indicated that they are the right ones.
Most install kits include dash disassembly instructions.

Taemu!!

Taemu666, that's good stuff! I wish I would have fouund that before I tapped my wires into the plug! I had to find each speaker, remote, acc, +12 and all that goodness and just stripped the wires each 1/4 in. from the Sony harness I installed and plugged them into the pins accordingly. Then I taped it up and it worked fine. Although, it would have been awesome to have found this before and just spliced the wires and plugged it in...
