Stupid question but does 01 diamante have timing chain or belt? If chain do I need to worry about changing it? If belt how bad is it to change?

if it is a v6 it is a belt

you replace the waterpump when you do the belt

every 100.000 km to change it

sometimes if unlucky you bend valves while doing the timing belt

Drives: 1997 Mitsubishi Diamante VR-S SUPER INVECS II , 1990 Mitsubishi Galant VR4 , 2006 Mitsubishi Triton PLUS 3.5 DOCH
Yur model has a 3.5 liter SOCH 24 valve V6. It has a timing belt. And on most services i perform a timing belt service at 75,000 miles with replacment of the water pump since it is turned by the timing belt.

Some people do not do the waterpump , but i always atleast service it at the 140,000-150,000 mile service
