Hello all,

after much research :), we have decided that a 2000 Eclipse GT is the car for us! Unfortunately, they are (very) rare here in Canada as they were not even available until only a couple of years ago. Subsequently, we will need to import the car from the US into Canada. While I have been researching what I need to know on my end (duty, taxes, etc), I was wondering if anyone can help me with what I need to know about US laws.

For example, here in Canada, if a vehicle has been in an accident worth over $2,000.00 it has to be declared, and other protective declarations like that, and so on. Is this the same for the US? What do I need to be aware of, what are some of the 'things' that do not need to be disclosed but I should know?! What are some of the things that should be disclosed but may not, etc? Any information would be incredibly helpful and very much appreciated!

Thanks a bunch!!! That is the kind of information I am seeking as I did not even know about "CarFax"! I went to their website and you can obtain information that I would not have even thought about, such as - flooded, fire damage, lemon (apparently the US has a lemon law), etc as that has to be declared 'here' in Canada! It is not optional and if someone does not declare it then there is legit recourse!

Again, thanks a bunch for the reply! Anything else or is this simply the best? :)
