Okay, I fixed a major exhaust leak and hooked everything back up. And when I started it up, it ran fine for about 5 minutes then started sputtering and my air/fuel gauge stopped working. Sending a code....

I took it to a friend and he ran the diagnoistic test, found misfire in cyl 3, I replaced the plugs, still read it. I replaced the wires and still coded for misfire in cyl 3. Now, in the past a friend of mine (whom i do not speak with anymore) had the same problem and i think it turned out to MAS,

I'm not quite sure whats going on.. any insight to this matter??

if your a/f stopped it could be because an o2 wire has broken. check the wiring and the sensor

^if you're talking about your GSX you have two different engines, but the diagnosis is not an impossibility

1- piston crack? wouldn't it sputter all the time?? smoke blue?? Also wouldn't you hear it? car does none of those...

2- only sputters when on high boost. reg stock boost the car runs top.

3- the a/f was the sensor and I'm not too concerned at the moment.

now when i fixed the exhaust leak, i had to disconnect the o2s, a/f sensor, and MAS... which I'm sure hadnt been disconnected in the last 50k miles......

If i can find a smiley face pulling hair out.. that would be placed here::::::

its been problem after problem with this car. I'm about to just drive it off a cliff and collect the insurance money!!

Actually if I think about it. It feels like give take relationship...

I give, it takes, and when it gives me something, its either problems or a nice big bill... and i just take it!!

what mods do you have? plugs, wires, fuel, turbo, etc? is that a/f you are talking about a wideband or narrow?

t-4 turbo, full K&N cold air kit, 1st gen BOV, greddy boost controller, plugs, wires, full dynomax exhaust, now fuel, has been upgraded but before my time with it.. So i couldn't tell you. I have the boost, pyro, and a/f meters. The guy who had my car before had the motor rebuilt at 90k, and it has 123k right now. So the possiblity of a cracked piston... who knows????

And the a/f is wideband. Its lights up but doesnt go past lean. Dims when you press on the gas. Before I fixed the exhaust leak - it read just above the rich line and never dimmed or cut out. Now the pyrometer which I've read .. reads the temp of the tranny which is totally broken - reads 1400F. no way I'd be dripping a tranny everywhere again not concerned.

Well, my fear of a crack piston is gone. Had a compression test done, and all cyl performed well. Its the fuel injector. And surprisingly, it was the problem with the A/F meter too. All fixed and ready to go.. until the next problem.
