I've got a problem with my trusty old Pajero, it intermittently seems to just loose power, with the tacho dropping to nothing on the scale and the car behaving as if the engine is turned off.

Over time Ive found that wiggling the wire to the power transistor which drives the coil restores everything for a while. Naturally I've replaced this (twice now) and am beginning to suspect that there is something perhaps further up the wire which is dodgy rather than it being my actual transistor or connection.

BUT ... I could be chasing a red herring here ... does anyone know this symptom?
