Ok...

You know how people touch up large areas on the cars before painting them. It's like this grayish putty or whatever that you put on and then paint it over.

I was wondering if there is anything like that for plastic, if there is what is it, where do I get it and how do I do it?

Can I use the same stuff on plastic as they do for metal?
I have some plastic parts that I messed up and need to have them polished properly before I can paint them. It's thin plastic so I don't want to grind it down or anything like that.

Any help such as suggestions, links etc. would be GREATLY appreciated! :liebe011:

The gray stuff they use is bondo.... I think thats what you're talking about. I'm pretty sure you can use it on plastic, but I would check with what it says on the bottle. Is it straight plastic or fiberglass?
Heres their website..
http://www.3m.com/US/auto_marine_aero/Bond...html?hdrBrand=1
Check out on there. You will also have to kinda sand it down a little before though, a hand sander will do. Then prime...
Good luck my friend!

The plastic is just normal plastic.
Though the thing with it is that it's a bit bent out of shape now, it will return to it's original shape once installed.
I wonder if that would cause that bondo stuff to crack...
I guess I should go look at the website you posted and do some research, thanks for getting me on track though :)

Hopefully I'll get this fixed before winter!

Depending on the material, use a palstic filler or some type of flexible agent and melt a blob in the area, and sand smooth.

I ended up using some Bondo stuff that's to be used on Fiberglass for small scratches and holes.
Got some 1000 grain sand paper too.

I tried it on one of the pieces of plastic and it filled in all the little pinholes that were OH SO ANNOYING! Sanded it down, did another layer and sanded it down again. I just put a first coat of paint on the plastic last night and it looked pretty good - I will have to take a look at it in daylight again but it should work rather well.

I'm excited! I think I can finally put everything back together on my car this weekend and it's going to look prime again!

Thanks fullmetalpanic, you steered me in the right direction
