So i just bought my first car 1999 eclipse RS 101k miles and, i noticed it smoking the other day and it smells more like gas then oil also runs like a champ. ive taken it to a few of my friends that knows alot more than me about cars and they said they dont think it is the head gasket... any idea's or tips?

i read a few other post's from diffrent people and almost every thread said blown headgasket but, wouldn't a blown headgasket make it run bad? and the car is getting louder like theres a exhaust problem.

what are some other causes for leaking coolant? that would still let your car run fine.

"it smells more like gas then oil" Way too rich feul mix?
If it was dumping fuel to the extreme you could get smoke.
Have you checked the fuel system?
I have seen crankcases full of gas becuase engines dumped to much fuel.It leakes through the piston rings and into the pan.Happened to me once, ended up with 5 gallons of gas oil in the engine.
Happened to my freinds 68 firebird and when he cranked it over it blew his intake off.

Yes, it is out... so that could cause it to flood the engine?

yes, your o2 sensor is what tells your engine how much fuel the engine needs. with the sensor out the car thinks you are running super lean and will dump fuel. put it back in, or if its bad replace it
