Ok, i checked out a 96 mitsubishi eclipse (red) turbo 2.0 liter engine looks and feels very nice to sit in 1100$. However my dad realized something fishy... Over the front shock strut i happened to notice the paint was of different texture but my dad suspects something's up since he thought he saw some filler or something on there...

Are the 96 shock strut tops (the bulging part) usually smooth and shiny? My dad and i are very nervous this could have been in a serious crash.... I MIGHT be able to get some pics up. probaly not though. I know this isnt much info but basiclly saying the top of it just simply looks modified. i didnt see it, but my dad did. Are these welded or shiny smooth? also, say something is up with it and its rusted or cracked, can it be rewelded? my father suspected that if it was in a crash then the company probably tried to pull it back but stress may have cracked it? What do you guys think? Thank you all very much in advance.

ok, is the strutt still bulging? if it is that means it got the rubber cover on it. he may have painted the rubber cover, but that seems weird. post up a pic and i can tell you exactly what it is. it may also be rust. thats a common spot.

and did i read wrong or are you getting all this for 1100 bucks? cuz thats a freaking steel if it runs smooth.

Ok thanks alot. Yeah my dad said it just kinda looked like itd been worked on, unfortunately i have no pics, but yes all of it for 1100. the only problem is that i think its been broken into, they key pin is missing, and the plastic is broken off the wheel that houses the electrics. He has the title though, which leads me to believe it probably wasnt him, but if it was broken into, sorry, nothing i can do, and itll likely never get returned to the original owner is the way i feel about it, although if i could - i would. Anyways, let me know if you guys have any other ideas about it? thanks alot. oh and if anyone else has something similar could you take a pic of it perhaps? then i could compare? I really dont feel comfortable asking for pictures because ive called this guy enough and its 1 hour and 20 mins away so i dont want to drive out there to take pictures. If i go out there again im buying it. Oh. the only other thing is the radiator doesnt work because where the big rubber hose (pardon my lack of lingo (first car)) connects to the radiator the previous owner cut off the bulge because it wouldnt fit, now unfortunately it spatters coolent here or there. anyone know if i can obtain just the black top of the radiator? itd be a shame to see it go to waste. Alright, well later.

THANKS!

I just bought a radiator (not the fans) but just the radiator for 100$ new. I'm gonna put it in a couple days. So you can just buy the radiator instead of just trying to find the top which may be impossible? My point is its cheap.

Sorry but not really cause i said it needed a new radiator (or really it just was cut off where the bulge is that connects the large rubber hose to the radiator because the previous owner couldnt get it on or something like that. It spatters coolent. i may need a whole new radiator cause of that stupid connector.
