So I have a 00 Eclipse GT with the premium sound and 4 disk in dash changer. I recently got the car but I think when I turn the radio way up to max it should be much louder, can anything be done to make it louder or is a new radio the only way to go. I don't want to loose the 4 disc in dash...quite a dilemma. I don't think installing new speakers will make a difference if the radio is not strong enough. Thanks for ideas/ suggestions.

ummmmm.................

No matter what radio you have, turning it up to max only destroys the signal and makes it noisier. Not louder.

It is possible you blew your speakers by turning it up to max. It is also possible the EQ is turned down.

Maybe noiser should be the word to use. It just feels as if its under powered. I mean my plymouth breeze stock radio was "noiser" then this, and this is "Premium" heh.

well i have notice on my 03 eclipse that when you turn up the volume above a certain point you loss your bass and gain just a little bit of highs so most of the time i have to sit on each song and find the sweet point between bass and highs. because for some reason Mitsubishi didn't think that car needed a volume indicator.

I had the same exact problem with my 2000 gt and took it to an audio shop and the amp was rustier than s***. So take a look at your amp, it might be the issue.
