Ok one of my friends has basically everything he needs to turgo his gs. He plans on running 6 psi on a small 16g and his car is all up to date with maintence. He has a boost gauge and a narrowband (crap yes I know). Does he NEED to get this car tuned after he installs his turbo? Everybody's trying to tell him that it's gonna blow up and I keep telling them that they're stupid. Also if you guys have any other suggestions on what he should do please feel free to share them. I was thinking the only other things he should get is a egt gauge and an oil pressure gauge.

yes he needs it tuned. He is changing the air/fuel flow characteristics of his car.

IMO the EGT gauge is the worst way to tune and is a waste of money. its a semi-good monitoring tool but by the time it tells you things are too hot it might be too late. He needs a wideband O2

how did he find a manifold to mate the 16g? or is it a hahn 16g?

yea he's on njtuners but I didn't see you up in his thread. He has a FMU and a fuel cut defender thing. He actually bought a ebay 16g which I think is retarded but the only things he doesn't have yet is the manifold and the down pipe but they're in the mail so I don't know how he's gonna get the manifold on there. The only thing he doesn't have is a wideband and he's strapped for cash right now and he really wants this turbo done. He wants to put it all in next week and I don't think I'm gonna be able to talk him out of it. How long do you think he can go before putting in the wideband or do you think he'll need it right away?

china 16g fail. he won't be able to bolt it to ANY aftermarket 420a manifold that I know of.

he needs help. the wideband should be top priority especially on a stock motor

If he's strapped for cash then he shouldn't be turboing a car anyway. That's how you f*ck it up.
