Hey how is everyone glad I found this place!!!

Ok I have a 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-T, when I bought her she was a Virgin, and still is basically other than an K&N intake she had 75'000 miles and no modifications. Last week she was idling and I noticed a different smell from my exhaust turned and looked and it was white smoke, I have no power loss and no overheating problems. So I turned it off immediately and started checking fluids my oil was low and my coolant was a little low also. Since then I have had the problem again only when idling though, or at least when I notice it. My fluids seems to be ok.

So my question is where should I start? Head Gasket? Intake?

Also should I even be driving it like this? it's not smoking all the time but maybe every other day only when idling.

Hope I am not bugging you guys with a rhetorical question but my situation didn't really seem to be the same as this topic.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

On another note what is the best coolant to use for my car?

Thanks.

Drives: 1996 Talon AWD. Built, but no longer drives: 1997 mitsubishi eclipse RS; 1990 Talon AWD; 1995 Talon AWD, 1997 Talon AWD. Seems like a pattern

:00000732:

are you sure the white smoke wasn't just steam? condensation builds up in the exhaust system and when the exhaust heats things up steam comes out the end.

the best thing to do in any situation where you think a head gasket is going bad is to get the compression checked and keep an eye on your fluids
