Hey guys

I have had this problem since i bought the car and now i really want to fix it for good. Whenever i go to use my windshield washer the wiper blades will do two full passes up and then back down but half through the third pass the system shorts and blows the fuse, leaving the wiper blades in the middle of the windshield. The mechanic at the dealership said it was a common problem and that there was a short somewhere between the switch on the steering column and the pump in the engine bay. He also said that it could possibly be a lengthy repair (with labor alone cost 98 dollars an hour).

I was just wondering if anybody else was having or had this problem and if so what is the best way to go about fixing( i.e. repair the wire, replace the pump, etc.) In a couple weeks i am changing out my clutch so i figure the best time to tackle the problem with the short is to work on that while the motor is out of the car.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks,
Burban

I've never had this problem nor have I ever heard of this being a common problem among 3g owners. But I'd say if you can figure the problem out, fix it yourself, if not then you might just have to suck it up and let the dealership take your money.

Or there is a wiring diagram at the top of the 3g main section, look in there and see if you can't find the diagram for you wiper wiring and such. Happy huntung.

Wouldn't the smart solution be to take the car back to where you purchased it and ask them to fix it since you JUST purchased it? Of course - it's to late now since you've just delt with it for however long.

It's an electircal issue, take it to the dealer and tell them to fix it.

Check to make sure you have no corrosion on the connections to the pump or the switch or wipers etc. best bet is to find a wiring diagram as stated above. Other then taking it to a dealer take it to an independent. Maybe a better experience for you.
