Hey all,

I've run into a bit of a wall here. I had a Viper 5002 alarm (no remote start) on my last 09 5spd that was no problem. It even worked rather well, regardless of the fact that the range was abysmal at under a block line-of-sight in beautiful 28C weather with no clouds or wind.

However, with my new '09 GTS (w/ F.A.S.T.), I wanted the remote start a la the coming winter for that feature and the extended range. Where I'm having difficulty is in them locating a bypass module. I went to one store (Visions) and they were adament that it was the PKU-MIT3 module, but another store (Advance) is telling me differently that there wasn't an actual known bypass for it -- or I could take the chance on something that "could" work, but I'd end up losing one of the keys.

I'm willing to take Viper, Python, or CompuStar.. AutoStart, I'd rather not -- I've witnessed too much bad experience with them. The bypass should be universal among them all.

Is anybody aware of a module that definitely works, and how the integration of FAST with the 8th generation Lancers turns out? If the FAST system must go, I'm not concerned.

Indeed, I was already looking at the CompuStarPro P2W9000FM-AS, but I need the bypass module for command start on a manual transmission which is not provided in the kit itself. Kevin231 appears to have had it installed on a CVT (hence why he said "when the car is put into park all the doors unlock. ")

Thanks, though :)

Well, I went down to my dealer to get my clutch pedal hydraulic line adjusted (which was causing some loose and wobbly/"damaged piston" feeling at the engagement point), which only took them about 5 minutes to diagnose, and decided to query them about the combo P2W9000FM-AS system they sell.. especially which bypass module they use.

Turns out they use a Mitsubishi bypass module, which could explain why those other shops couldn't find one, and they also sell the whole kit for over $150 cheaper *installed* with a lifetime warranty.

My dealership is definitely smashing the old stereotype to pieces. They are actually a joy to deal with.

[edit]
Oh, yeah, and they deal exclusively with RRM for their performance parts :P Got themselves a nice wall showcase.. wonder how much they charge for an installed V2 pulley & header..

Well, get this.. I was about 10km outside the city Saturday at a bbq, and I go outside to light some fireworks and I hear my alarm going off -- as quiet as it is :(

So I try to shut the thing off, but the remote keeps telling me "Hold". Ok, so I press button 4 for about 2.5 seconds to remove Hold mode, but nothing happens. So I tap it to get a status update, and nothing happens. I hold it for over 4 seconds, nothing happens. Button 4 became completely useless. I figured maybe the button shorted out on it's own for no reason, activated Hold and set off the panic alarm at the same time. I had no idea what the hell just happened.

This sucked. Without button 4, I could not disarm the vehicle. I could fiddle with the buttons, and all of a sudden the alarm would shut off -- or it would do it on its own after about 15-20 seconds. The factory fob still unlocked the doors, but obviously when I opened them, the alarm set off again. I was able to start the vehicle with it armed as well, though I know exactly why.

With the installation manual from their website in hand, I tried to reprogram the remote even though I was getting the shock and door sensor status on the remote. I was hoping it just lost sync, as did another owner of the same alarm on his Titan think. Being armed, I could not reprogram.

So I was in a jam. Either I tried to drive home about 25-30km with the alarm going off, or I had to get my other backup fob to disarm... I hoped that the latter option would actually do the trick. Thankfully, a friend drove by my place, picked it up, and made the out-of-the-way trip to get it to me.

Throughout most of the night, I kept trying to get that transmitter to work. We (the company founder and I) tried swapping batteries since at one point it said I had no juice left, leaving the batteries out for a while, key combinations -- all of which didn't work. So, finally pissed off, I removed the battery and left it like that all night since I didn't want the alarm to go off during the night.

Next morning, about 6 hours later, I plug the battery back in and she came back to life like nothing happened.

 wtf.
