First of all I think your problem is electrical. It would eliminate some possibilities if you did change out your fuel filter and ran some injector cleaner through but if it was the problem you would see the symptoms when you were under load such as climbing a hill, etc. I wouldn't use the octane booster but ensure you are running premium fuel 95+ octane. GDI's are high compression engines and require high octane fuel.
OK, electrical fault. Most likely you have an intermittant connection going to or from the ECU. There are known problems with this and they can cause all sorts of unknown headaches. Dissconnect each connector in the engine bay and clean with a bit of emery cloth and spray out with electrical contact spray. Plug back in a couple of times and if you have any doubt if the pins are making contact bend them up a tad before re-connecting. Do all of this with the battery disconnected which will also re-boot your ECU on power up again. Make sure you do all leads to each sensor including tranny.
Hope that this fixes your gremlin as it has for others (inc myself). Don't expect many mechanics to know much about GDI engines. They can be a pain if something is not right but generally the repair is permamant
