Hi all,

First-time poster here. I just got off the phone with a mechanic -- he quoted me roughly $820 to replace front and rear struts ($320 for 4 struts, $60 aligment, $416 for 5 hrs labor, plus tax). I trust the mechanic more or less (highly recommended by a friend) but I'm wondering if that price isn't a bit high. Also, mileage is 75K. What do you think? Thanks

Are you buying the parts from the mechanic?

The price sounds just about right however it also sounds like he is charging you time on the alignment whereby most shops outsource that work as the necessary equipment is specialized, unless they are doing the alignment with string.

If you ask me, I think the labor estimate is a bit high. 5 hours is a bit much... the work is more like 3, 3.5 the most...

good luck
