Wow, the perfect topic for how I feel right now...where to start?

When I had just graduated high school I lived with 4 friends in a house...Needless to say, massive amounts of drinking and illegal activities were always happening in this house. One night, it was my turn to cook dinner, and I was in the kitchen, when one of my friends called my name...I turned around, and immediately saw him laughing, a cane cocked back in his hand, and next thing I know *WHAP* right to the nuts. I noticed at work a few weeks later that my left testicle was swollen, and thought nothing of it...6 months later, when I moved to Salt Lake City, and I started having groin pains, I figured it was time to go to the doctor. Long story short, my friend split part of my testicle open, and the doctor has had me go through 4 different types of antibiotics to get rid of the infection as a result. Now he's given me one last type, and told me if this one doesn't work, I'm losing it...I'm about a week and a half in, and nothing has happened so far, so I'm preparing for the loss of it.

I found this out last week. That same day, I went to a friends house to install the sound system in my eclipse, and then went to hang out to play some games. I got a call from my dad, and found out the house is on fire...it's okay though, only the basement...where my room was. Lost my ipod, laptop, tv, clothes and bed. Insurance is paying for it, but I won't see anything for about another month and a half.

So I decided, I gotta get away. It's time to go back to Idaho for a week, visit my mom for her birthday, and maybe hook up with one of my exes for the weekend. I'm cruising down the highway doing about 85, and...oh everything turns off, except for my stereo. I pull over, do a quick check, find out oil is fine, everything is hooked up, can't figure out what's wrong with it. So I have to have my dad come get me, 150 miles outside of SLC, and bring me back in. The next morning, we go back out, get my car and bring it back...Long story short, My distributor went dead, and a new one will cost about 300 bucks at Checkers...

Anyone know a place that might have it a bit cheaper? :P

I love life! It's so fun =P

Yeah, we checked the fuses for a spark, a bunch of the stuff you guys had listed on the "If it cranks" topic, but my dad (the more mechanically inclined of us 2 =P) is 99% certain it's the distributor. Which is gonna suck, but oh well, it's another learning experience, right? This car is just supposed to be fun anyways to work and learn on, until I get the money saved up for my 2nd gen

Si mi amigo. Just a base model. It sucked though, having to take a damn tow dolly 150 miles out into the damn desert to pick it up. Especially because they were having the "Fallen Policeman" motorcycle parade or whatever, and had 1500 bikes riding on the freeway  ...I looked at Partstrain, and they had a few different looking ones, by some manufacturer called Snap...I'm not very mechanically inclined, so forgive my noobish question, but is there anything special I should be looking for that will point out the exact distributor I need?

Let it be known this was taken from the OTL thread, I don't want people to think I just randomly started talking about my house catching on fire for no reason and stuff :P

I'll only lose one, so I'll still be some-what man...But yeah, this teaches all you kids out here in this wide world of forums not to leave candles lit (I didn't do it by the way, my step mom did), or you could end up like me, nearly balless with a broken car!

Cool, another DSMer from SLC.
Uhhhh.... oh yeah.... that blows about the nuts. A riend of my cousins in Washington lost a nut to cancer. Something he did, was get a fake silicone nut put in, to at least make things look normal. Hopefully you don't loose it, but if you do, and get a fake one, just don't tell anybody, they might start calling you "re-tread". hehe
Anyway, I had the EXACT same thing happen on my old 94 1.8L Eclipse when I had it. It's ctually a diode or some crap that is inside the distributor that went bad. $300 for a new distributor really isn't bad, when I was looking, it was gonna cost me around $500 (during the diag, my buddy fried my ECU, and the price went up to about $1100. I said "bye" to the car).
As for that specific brand, Snap, I have no idea. But at that pirce, I think it is pretty good.
Good luck, and hope you keep your nut.

PS: If you ever want to have a little fun with your car, Logan Canyon kicks ass. TONS of fun!

Yeah, I was gonna make that joke, but I don't know how touchy people in these forums are, I was still kind of feeling it out...I was gonna go for a generic, I'm emo I'll cut myself one.

Hahaha, yeah, Logan canyon? That'll be sweet, cause this thing has SOOOO much wicked acceleration :P . I'd probably just be putting around at 15 mph the entire time
