yu see the PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) helps to regulate the internal pressure of the engine. A clogged pcv valve can raise the internal pressure of the engine , causing oil leaks where the oiling system is under most pressure , like areas with seals , also causing alot of pressure in the upper end of the engine in the cylinder head area , slowly weakining the valve stem seals and causing oil to escape into the cylinders via the valves.
Also the pcv valve can malfunction in another way. The pcv valve has a spring loaded valve in it to help regulate its suction. Yu see the PCV valve is hooked directlly to the intake plenum , which is a source of high vacuum . which is why it has the spring valve internally of it , to help regulate the vacuum sorce going thru it. An old pcv valve , teh spring can be wea frum age and the valve does not properly restrict/modulate the intakes vacuum sorce and so it has a high draw , and in these cases making it suck small amounts of oil thru it into the intake system and causing a noticeble oil loss over time between oil changes.
How does the engine run? Fairly good? Just has that oil consumtion issue? Yu mentioned the plugs were oily. Were they oily frum oil in the spar plug tubes? Do yu have teh 4G93 1.8?
But if the inside core part was oil, the side of the plug thats in the cylinder, i would definatly do as Chain Rattle said and perform a cylinder compression test. The piston rings (compression ring and 2 oil rings) may be extremely worn frum lack of proper oil changes , and small amounts of oil are bypassing into the cylinders .
NM i just saw yu have the 1.5
