I'm looking to upgrade my brakes. I am comming up on a brake job and a couple of rotors are a little too worn to be "safely" resurfaced. I figured, what the hell, if I have to get new rotors anyway, I might as well upgrade.

I was just looking on ebay and I found a set of the brembo calipers and rotors from a totalled Evo 9. Here
Will that fit on our old DSM's?

I also found a front caliper and rotor upgrade kit from RRE Here That's all good and is an upgrade, but I'm kinda looking for something on all 4 corners. Even if the rear is just a rotor upgrade with some bigger rotors and a caliper re-location bracket.

the evo brakes will not work. unless you change the hub from and asian galant which you have to order from the dealer or know someone from asia.

if you get the stuff from rre its a good stock replacement thats if, you are not planning on doing any hard core driving.

You see, that's the thing. I've been known to take my car out to the track every now and then.

My buddy's bike club rents a track every now and then for the day. I go along and throw a couple sets of spare tires and some other extra bike parts in my car because they can't carry it on thier bikes. So... they let me get a few laps in first before they go on... to umm.... "check the track for trash", yeah, that's why I do it... :P Even with the stock turbo and everything, I get ALOT of fade and find myself having to brake earlier and earlier after about the first half a lap.

I think that the high-end kit on the RRE site had all that for the front. So I would just need to find a kit for the back.

Singles for 2g's front and rear.

For the rear, I'm looking for new lines and pads and bigger rotors, and a bracket to relocate the stock caliper to use the bigger rotors.

just do the fronts the majority of your stopping power comes from the front. if you can find 2 piston from a non turbo 3000gt or a gsx then your good.

unless you have $2k hide somewhere you can get stoptech or brembo

I know a place where you can get a sweet deal on some replacement drilled or slotted rotors. PM me if interested.

Rob, consider yourself PM'd

I also found some AEM big brake kits on Slow Boy Racing, Here. Looks like I can get the kits for the front and back for $800, but that's just the big rotors and re-location brackets for the stock calipers.

But maybe I can get those and then get the calipers off of a 3000gt. or those replacement calipers from RRE. I'd rather not pay that 2K for a set of 6 piston calipers, lol.

Oh, and Attack, yeah, to be honest, I do have the money. I almost bought an EVO 9 MR edition about a month ago. I was going to pay cash for it! HAHA! I just figured it would be better spent elsewhere. Like some nice upgrades to make mine a more well-rounded track car and I really want a bike. I just have to do some more test-rides and looking around. The rest is going back into mutual funds and long-term CD's.

Jeez, I knew it wouldn't be long before somebody spoke up.

I don't know even where to start. I haven't done much shopping in that area, so I don't know what they are going for.

BAER makes the CLAW Track system for the front, and I can get that for about 800, so I'll probably go with that for the front and then the AEM kit for the back. I say that because an extra $300 for new calipers and all for the front isn't a bad deal, and even if I got a set of 3000gt calipers for $100, they are still old parts and aren't as good as the BAER even when they were brand new.

So in short, thanks guys for all your help. I think I've got what I'm going to go with unless anyone has a problem with the BAER.... Here's the link: 2g BAER Claw System

Yeah man I would just grab a set of front NA 3000GT calipers off Ebay for like $60-$100 and be done

If they stop my 4000 LB car on the track with no problem and very little fade after a couple laps you will not have an issue.

I'll see how it goes. It depends on how much I spend on rebuilding my turbo and the hard pipes, fuel system, etc. I might end up going with Rob's rotors and a set of 3000gt calipers. I doubt it though, I will keep that option open.

If I can find someone around here that has that done to thier 2g so I can test drive, that would help, but I doubt I will.

The EVO8 and EVO9 calipers will work in the rear of a 2g but the front will require a bunch of other parts to get them to work. They are direct bolt-on for the rear.
