So I would like to know your opinions on what are the best wheels and tires on the market. Im looking to buy new tires and rims very soon, and I want to make sure that I get the best.

I live in Cali right now, so I'm looking for summer tires.
I was looking at either Toyo Proxes T1R or Michelin Pilot Sport PS2

If I move to Oregon, where there will be snow, I was thinking about these all season tires Michelin Pilot Sport A/S or Toyo Proxes 4

I'm looking at a couple different rims... what do you think?

Enkei FD-05
or
Tenzo R GF-7

Oh and I definitely wouldn't mind AME Tracer TM-02

Would love to hear some feedback!

:)

Not much of a tire buff, but I'll do what I can.

If you are moving to Oregon so soon, then I suggest you wait it out and get a feel for the roads that you will be driving on. Here in Chicago, we have pot holes galore and the winter will terrorize our asphault, so low profile tires are a huge NO-NO. You'll want to keep your rims protected as much as possible because replacing a cracked rim is not cheap.

All weather tires are pretty much pointless if you are running on rims over 16". I have the GTS 18"s (with "all weather tires") and they have zero grip in any snow over 2". You'd fare much better with some steel 16" with snow tires for the winter and some flashy rims with a good grip tire when you need to look purdy in the warmer seasons.

Choose your tires based on your roads and your suspension will thank you.

Love the deep dish look of the Tenzos.

If you're gonna live in the snow I would suggest getting two set of tires. Get some nicer ones for the summer with new rims, but keep your old rims with winter tires. When I lived in NY thats what I did, and I'm glad I did. My rims were shot in the winter.
Got BFGoodrich G-Force Sports on the 3000gt and they are fine. It doesn't see winter up north or down here anymore so I don't know how they do in the snow, but they're wide so i would say not so good.

So I found out where I'd be moving to in Oregon, Portland area, they don't get that much snow to worry about getting a set of winter tires and summer tires. I have a friend that lives there and he has a set of All-Season tires with his FWD car and he says it's fine.
So im wondering if I should get 2 sets of tires or just get an all season like the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S...

Also I found some other rims I really like (thanks to Rob)
Volk TE37 Porsche
although I wish they had these in 18" Volk GTS
also liked
Gram Lights 57 Maximum

Well...one area I can help you out in......
On 1 of the sets of rims for my wifes Altima Se, I have the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires on there.
Here is what I think of them......

a little noisy...though not bad.......

they don't last that long.

they don't seem to wear all that even...though the car is perfectly aligned.

all weather driving has been really good...even in the snow.

expensive

can't think of anything else about them....other than I wouldn't suggest them because of the cost factor & the wearing.

Thanks for all the input. It really helps. I'm actually going to go to a place called Wheel Warehouse tom and check all the rims and tires they have. It's one of the biggest stores around where I live.

Cheers :liebe011:

Another question popped up in my head... Is it possible and also would it be detrimental to put on 19" rims with wider tires like a 255/35/19?

255 wont fit it will be way too wide. To put it in perspective, the evo has a wider stance than the gts with its body styling and the evo runs 245 on a 8.5" wide rim. So the widest you can probably go is 235/35r19 if I am not mistaken. I am not sure a 235/35 will fit with a 19 inch rim though. I know you should be ok with a 235/40r18.

So I finally got it done. I went with TWS Croft 18" rims with Toyo T1R 235/40/18. I love the way they look and feel. Here are some pictures.
