I just bought a Mitsubishi Outlander 08 a couple days ago. When we were out the door it was closing time. a couple minute down the road we found out that the gas tank was almost empty. So we decided to go back there the next day to have them fill it up at the dealer. So I was at work that day, I accidently called another mitsu dealer in that area. (I didn't found this out until yesterday after we took the car back to the dealer we bought to get it fill) The dealer I called said yeah, just bring it back and we'll be happy to fill it up for you only on the new vehicle's. So we drove down to the dealer and asked them to fill it up like promised. That's when I pulled out the business card which appear to be a sales person at another dealer. To make long story short.

The guy that work at the dealer that we bought the car from said that mitsu doesn't fill up the tank anymore. So I thought for a second and replied back.

Wait did you just say that Mitsu doesn't fill up the tank on a brand new car anymore?

He said yeah.

I said, so I called up the wrong place and they said that they are happy to fill it up for us only on a brand new car. Why won't this mitsu dealer do the same?

He struggle for answer for a moment... Well, because they're not affiliated with this mitsubishi.

How is it different, aren't you guys in the same bus?

I got so pissed off yesterday, I am never going back to that dealer again. So I'mma call up Mitsu head quarter tomorrow and find out. Cus when I bought my evo they had it all filled up, you would think that they would do the same for my Outlander. When you guys bought your new Outlander, did the dealer fill up your tank?

I bought a brand new lancer and they filled it up for me.... I mean even if they are independently owned, they are still affiliated with Mitsu... I mean they are using their name. They have to abide by their policies. I am not sure if this is just good business practice or an actual policy. I would check around, sounds like they just don't give two hoots.

its up to the dealer.
very few manufacturers ever fill up a tank for the customer.

Most cars arrive with 2 to 3 gallons in them. Thats it.

They didnt fill mine up either.

I mean it had half a tank but it sure would have been nice to get into a nice clean car with a full tank.

I guess if they fill them up, their profit goes down.

Dealerships are all penny pinchers.

They filled the tank when I bought my 08 without me even asking. When we were getting ready to go in and sign papers with the finance guy, our salesman said he was going to fill the tank, then bring the car into service to complete the new car prep (wash it, put in floor mats, etc). He also gave me a coupon for 1st oil change free without me asking.

They charged me 40 dollars but at least it was to full rather than 40 dollars worth.
My dealer was ok but they need more customer service training. The entire lot of them Mitsu head quarters should do inspections on the service buyers get after they signed the line but before they get delivery.

I took my outtie into the dealer a few days after buying it to get front windows tinted which was part of the deal, and I was very pleased with their service department. The person who did the tints was running behind schedule and the service writer apologized for the delay and immediately offered to have their courtesy van drive me home (rather than waiting), and then pick me up when it was done. When I bought my 2003 Hyundai Elantra new, I got a survey from Hyundai in the mail asking about my dealership experience and inital quality on the car. Mitsu needs to do that.
