Hi Guys,

After being dissapointed with the local muffler shops (they want to hack my current stock configuration in order to build an exhaust) i have decided to purchase an aftermarket exhaust and have been leaning towards the Greddy for sometime. My only issue is the cost of buying it and getting it sent over to Australia.
Just realised I missed a sale on them (been away the past few weeks), so can anyone suggest anywhere I can purchase one and ship it to Australia for a reasonable price.

Cheers,

Tim

Going off what is happening in Australia, most CJ drivers that have had a local shop do the work have cut the flange just in front of the resonator and moved it back a fraction in order to fit the bends in.
The local shop I went to the other week wanted to twist the pipe to the left (looking at the rear of the car) than hook it back to the center and place the muffler here before bending more pipe back to where the current tip is...which made me think straight away...next shop please!
I am still searching around for this exhaust at a resonable price in Aus...but nobody has it...least the K&N Filter's have started to trickle in.

Tell them you want them to make you a bolt on that can be removed if need be. I remember one guy made himself a custom muffler delete (aka Works knockoff) for about $90 and his was a bolt on just like Works.

If you could supply them with a flange to make it into a bolt on, they'd have no problem doing it, but I have no idea where you can find the flange.

This is what I originally requested and he didn't seem to take that into consideration, he was going to take the flange off the existing muffler which was a big no-no and when I first enquired I did state that I wanted to be able to put the pre-existing muffler back on.
I am an industrial designer by trade, so I know I won't have many problems taking off the muffler, measuring it up, drawing it up in 3d modelling software and pumping out a .dxf file to send to a local sheet metal fabricator to cut out. Just looking for an easy option to save me stuffing around and knowing what I get will by quality.

Hi Guys,

Yeah I was toying with idea of a US bought axle back like Tsudo, Greddy etc.
I guess all of us here in Aus should have done it 4-6weeks ago when AUD = 0.98USD instead of the 0.81or so it has plummeted to. GRRRR HAHA

If anybody here in Aus can get something made using a standard brand type muffler as the basis for a custom made setup like a Magnaflow Model???? or a Lukey Model??? or whatever please post so the rest of us will know what to possibly ask for to get started.
I want to get a few more WHP and free up the engine breathing/accel and maybe better mileage along with maybe a K&N filter.

If possible though I would like it to be as close as to the stock setup re noise as I can.
Im not looking for low rumbles or roars or whatever else some people are wanting.
just better engine response and slightly more HP and Fuel mileage.

Also here in Aust our max allowable noise levels are lower than the figures quoted on this and other Lancer forums compared to the USA.
Here in WA the max is 90 dB(A)

The works P1 ECU flash would be awesome but I cannot see myself shipping my ecu off to USA to get flashed.
It will get 17HP more at wheels and about 17 LB FT torque and with a inlet and exhaust as discussed as well would see some notable performance gains similar to the stock new 2.4L GTS/VRX still to hit Aust shores.
Anyway to all my fellow Aussie Lancer owners please keep us all posted on your findings. :liebe011:

One of my mates knows the guys that own a muffler shop and reckons he can get me a good deal on having an exhaust knocked up for my car. They have already done one for a CJ Lancer and said it turned out pretty well.
Fact of the matter is, they are open Saturday's (they are about 30min drive away and is the only day I can do it really), so I will take my car out there and if the price is right get them to knock something up on the spot and see if they can save the templates. If I rate the exhaust system, I will post up some pics and sound clips and let you guys decide what you think and can give you contact details of the place I had it done with and see if we can organise a special price. Place is located in the Newcastle region (NSW).

Heya,

I posted a thread here a while back on a Custom Axel Back i got from Liverpool Exhausts.

They didn't cut off my flange and just so happened to have one that would fit mine thankfully. Those guys were really helpful and i was not disappointed from the service. In fact, after chatting to some of the other customers waiting for their orders, they were all regular customers or recommended by their friends. Everyone seemed to be very happy with the work done there. Only problem i saw was that it was kind of expensive at 250 for a Mild Steel construction except at least i have my stock muffler still here if i ever want to put it back on.

Give them a go and specify you don't want them to cut off your flange.
