So I just got a '96 Base Eclipse and (obviously) it doesn't have a tachometer. I was just wondering if there was any way that I could possibly get one put in where the space is for one next to the speedometer. Anyone know if this is possible? Or even likely that it could happen? I don't really know where I could find one / how to do that.

you must have the automatic, cause auto prob dont need it,but you should be able to get a new dash cluster (i think thats what there called)and just plug it in it should be all one piece.the only thing is your mileage, will be diff now.

Buy a different gauge cluster with a tach. Take it apart and swap the speedometers. That will keep your mileage correct. Its only 13 push tabs on the front and 4 screws on the back.

car-part.com is a good place to look for things like that.

No, I have the 5-speed. The Base Eclipse just doesn't come with one, but I got it for such a good price I couldn't resist.

But yeah thank you for the help, I'll go check out that website and see what I can do. What kind of wiring/work would I need to do to get a working tach though?

All you should need is the gauge cluster with the tach.
