Hey all! new to the forums love em already *just thought i would throw that in for some brownie points =) *

Anywho, just got a 2003 spyder gts about 4 days ago, and of course... me being a techie i want to change out all the sound system. Already removed the 6x9's and the front speakers. took a look at my factory amp under the passanger seat today and had to laugh. anywho im going to be changing out the system in stages. i have all the stuff but i work to much to do it all at once. i was wondering *without having to tear it off to find out myself* the factory head unit, does it have any rca outputs on the back or is it just a wiring harness direct to the amp? also the wiring harness i read about for the factory amp are they readily avaliable or is that a sort of special order sort of thing.

So far *taking out of my 87 IROC* i have 2 Alpine Type R 12" subs, Alpine Type R speakers for mids/highs 2 Rockford Fosgate P2002's and 1 Rockford Fosgate P4004. i also have a JVC KDLH910 headunit but i doubt thats going to be my final since im going to go with a 2 space head unit with gps. Anywho any suggestions on installing or anything would be greatly appriciated!!!

Also nother random question. the car sometimes on the passanger side front tire *area* will creek im guessing its something with the shocks, car buddy of mine said its no biggy it happens but im wondering what it is... its very annoying. THANKS!

-Remmy

Welcome to the site.

I've been a huge supporter of Alpine for the 10 years I've been using their equipment.

Check this out... You should be able to find all of the answers that you are looking for.
Browse through the stickies at the top (darker blue text), and if that doesn't answer anything, then keep looking through the existing posts, and/or search.
These guys are a little harsh on you if you were to put up this same post there. They'll just say something rude like "JUST SEARCH noob". Just letting you know... It's partially because these questions have been asked over and over, and there is a TON of excellent info about our 3Gen Eclipse's Audio. You just have to find it. It's a bit more complex than your average set-up, but once you get the concept, and learn the basic components, it'll be just as easy as any other!

Good luck! :57:

Just so you know, there is only one double din receiver that will fit the 3g eclipse. And I believe it's a Dual(brand). Anyways, to make any other double din's fit you have to do modifications to make them fit, such as, dremel out the surorunding plastic cover, or even grind down some of the metal that holds the actual head unit.

It's alot of work and a pain in the ass, so that's why I'm telling you this now just so you're aware.

And about that squeaking noise you're hearing, it's just the stock Mitsubishi suspension, it always creaks or makes some kind of funny noise. Just get used to it cause it's what our cars do.

Other than that, welcome to the site and feel free to ask more questions as you get them.

I was re-reading my post and I think it might have come off as if I was one of those jerks...
I was referring to this link (don't know if it was noticable at the bottom of my last post).

http://www.club3g.com/forum/car-audio-electronics/

Most of my last post was directed towards the common interactions for the Club3G.com forums (the link), and I was explaining how that site tends to work... the members on these forums are a bit more relaxed.

Sorry for the confusion, and like Silver03GS said, keep asking if you need anything!

I've been making my own boxes, or using boxes that were sitting around, so I can't help you too much there, but....

I would suggest looking on Crutchfield.com, or even hitting up bestbuy for a pre made enclosure. Just make sure that the internal volume of the box is as close as possible to the sub manufacturer's reccomendations... probably around 1.25Ft^3 each...or 3Ft^3 total, for both subs)

If your looking for a custom built enclosure built to your specs, shape, etc., then your best bet is to hit-up the phone books or net and find some local audio profesionals/shops.

http://www.sonicelectronix.com for the subwoofer enclosure. they should give you all the specs you're looking for so that you can make sure it's a snug fit before you buy it.
