From what I understand, not much is interchangeable. The heads will swap, but the 2nd gen 7 bolt has a different bolt pattern. The first gen 7 bolt still can't swap parts with the 6 bolt. The pistons, rods, crank, flywheel, girdle(6 bolt uses 3 seperate pieces), oil pan, oil pump, lower timing cover, oil filter bracket, and most of the other parts do not inter-change.

Again, thats what I have been told, so if I'm wrong, someone will correct me.

Again, from what I've been told the motor will bolt in at the same place the 7 bolt does. As far as I know, so will the tranny.

Externally, the 6 and 7 bolt pretty much have the same mounting positions.
