Their car was supplied by Mitsu for test purposes.
Probably it was repainted with a thicker layer of paint before they got it (our paint issues were not mentioned) and their car had probably the tires replaced(pulling to the left).

Excepting the weak-sauce engine, this car simply drives and steers with the composure and precision of a more expensive car.

Interesting they went in for a faulty fuel gauge... anyone else had this go?? Other than that I think the article was pretty spot on. My interior has definetly already chipped and my seats look like Gizmo exploded on them

there was someone either on 4b11lancers or on here that had problems with their gas gauge staying about 3/4 full and the low gas warning turning on

I can't stop laughing @ their mileage....Only getting like 300 miles per tank......I can get close to double that!
But I am sure they are actually enjoying their drive

Their best was 30.5mpg?! For the 1st time....I was averaging 41.9 on the way home today! That's just driving with some stop & go...mostly doing 55 though for 20+ miles. By the time I got off the expressway & made my way home & backed into the garage...I averaged 40.5. That's just starting the car & driving it & NOT resetting the computer. Guess the cooler weather & the fresh detail is paying off.

16.4 @ 84mph in the quarter for the CVT isn't bad! I really thought our cars with CVT would be closer to the 17 second mark....but not too far off from 15's

Skidpad of 0.83? I have seen that figure better on pretty much every other test I have read. Best I have seen on paper was 0.87 or 0.88..now that's impressive!
But as usual....different test tracks...different weather conditions.

SixFeetDeep, you might have posted it already but just to sure.

- Are there any specific mods you have perform on car and thus getting a great mileage?
- Tips regarding your driving style?

Done all I can to get a good mileage so far my best is 34mpg on highway.

The 1st thing that I can see is that you have the 2.4 in yours. I only have the 2.0.
That right there would be a 2mpg difference according to the window sticker.
Only thing that I have is the WORKS drop in air filter...which is being replaced with the Injen intake Monday
I just happened to have a great day....traffic was moving without much drama & I was able to follow a couple of semis for a little while...but anytime traffic was slowing down...I just coast to the point where I have to brake. At no time during my ride home did I go over 2000RPM. I also had just topped off the car with a fresh tank of mid grade....Speedway fuel....cheap..but it works. My car was in somewhat recently for a rebablance...they ended up dropping my air presure from 40psi all around, to 35psi all around. It rides better, but the handling isn't as good now. Other than that.....I haven't done anything else. IMHO, it is the computer in the car. Mitsu says it learns your driving style & adapts to it. Since I always drive the car slow & smoothly...it returns better mileage. Every other tank I might have some fun flooring it on the expressway just to blow it out...but other than that...I just drive nice.

Funny in that article......they don't have any paint issues...when pretty much everyone else IS. Makes you wonder if they just don't pay theat much attention to the paint & write it off as "normal" wear & tear or what.

I wonder about their test figures.....is the 2.4 they tested the 5 speed or another CVT?
