Drives: 1996 Talon AWD. Built, but no longer drives: 1997 mitsubishi eclipse RS; 1990 Talon AWD; 1995 Talon AWD, 1997 Talon AWD. Seems like a pattern

215 is the widest on stock rims and even that is a little bit too large. once you exceed the width capacity of the rim the tire starts to turn down on the sides and will comprimise handling

no these arent stock rims, they are ccw racing wheels 15's, the tires that came with them are 195's. i was wondering if i could go with a 225 on these wheels or would it be to big for the wheels? i am looking for something wide but they dont have to be that wide seeing i am awd.

IMO, sell the wheels.
Upgrade to some 17"s, and get some 235/40ZR17 HP tires.
That's just me though.

EDIT: Some information for you on tires, and the meaning of the sizing and number/letter:

195/70R15
195..... This number is the width of the tire from sidewall to sidewall, across the treaded side of the tire.
70..... This is the distance between the bead, and the tread face of the tire, on the outside of the sidewall.
R..... This denotes the tire as a "radial" tire. ZR is also common and is mainly reserved for sport/perforance tires (DO NOT think that Z has anything to do with the speed rating of he tire!!! It does not!) There are a few others as well, which you will most likely never see, unless you work with tires.
15..... This is the size of the wheel you can use.
Hope that helps.
