Not servicing the PCV valve at proper service intervals will also cause it to leak around the oil filler cap. The PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) helps to control internal engine pressure , by venting it thru the pcv valve and into the intake manifold. Not servicing this item , especially on V6 engines will keep the engine pressure high especially around the cam covers, and will find its way out thru the oil filler cap when pressure is high enough.

The PCV valve should be on the Valve cover it looks like on the picture attached, but make sure you get the correct one when you purchase it. You can get it at Autozone or NAPA.

The PCV valve will be on the cam cover that has the oil cap. It will be on the frunt area near the timing cover , Look in the Diamante section , it will show yu there.

Its not suppossed to free rattle alot. In most cases when its rattling alot , when the intake pulls vaccuum on it , the valve most likely is closing all the way due to the weak internal spring and check valve in it . And closing all the way , so its not releaving the crank case pressure. Suprissingly also this is why the PCV valve is fitted to tha cam cover that has the oil filler cap, to keep frum over pressure there.

It can be blocked , if the pcv valve in the past was opened and "surged" and clogged with oil in the passage. Yu definatly have a crankcase ventilation issue
